About Me

Greg Johnson is an active performer and composer and teacher in Pennsylvania. He is currently a jazz studies major at the University of Northern Colorado. Deemed a “chameleon” Greg plays in a variety of styles and sounds to fit the occasion: from his own rhythmically explorative jazz-fusion band “Punk Jazz” to the light sounds of cocktail band “The Deli Project.” Other projects he has been a part of ranged from classic rock to techno. Greg is also on-call with the Nittany Valley Symphony as a classical saxophonist. As an educator, Greg believes in learning through example and experience. He is the co-founder of the Sozo Jazz Jam: an all-ages, smoke-free alcohol-free jazz jam for anyone who wants to participate.A two-time finalist in the Gibson-Baldwin Grammy Band competition, Greg has been featured in the prestigious Downbeat Magazine. This year he was chosen as one of 5 saxophonists in North America to compete in the North American Saxophone Alliance (NASA) Jazz Competition in Columbia, South Carolina. Greg teaches privately in State College during the summers and can be seen performing in Philadelphia, State College, Pittsburgh, Hershey and New York City.Myspace Codes / Myspace Layouts
