Kataclism

As a classically trained violinist Kataclism, aka Katherine Richmond, developed her own style as a soloist and gained experience playing for several different orchestras when she was younger that took her on tours to the USA, France, Italy and Spain. She did lots of session work for bands, as well as sing and play piano in others which has given her a great understanding about live music and recording in studios which she finds so useful now in her production.
A friend Al (aka Boris Pecker), who releases on the Drenched Recordings label in Manchester (see Feline 9), asked her for some advice one day about 4 years ago and that was it - they were glued to the computer! Kataclism was listening to a lot of deep house at the time, the style she began to mix with, but when the electro / techno boom arrived it really hooked her in and she knew this was the sound she wanted to produce.
A couple of years ago Kataclism met DJ and producer Paul Barkworth (now her love!!!), who was looking for a keyboardist to help on a couple of projects he had on the go. They talked and developed ideas of what they wanted to do and then they were given the opportunity to do a spec remix of Ignition's 'Planet 69'. She is now working on several projects: 'Do It All Night', an acid house collaboration with Paul (which was engineered by CR2's Richard Searle) is released under Paul and her collaborative name, Triptec. Along with their upcoming track 'Compromiso', Kataclism will also be releasing a remix of Paul's 'Her Dress', as well as the jazzy 'Biskit' and 'Lican Rai' on the SB White Label.
