About Me

I am a cowboy, a siren, a gypsy, and a clown (in no particular order and in equal parts). I like misceif no, wait.. I love mischeif, the good kind, and I like change. I listen to the Cramps when I'm on my period. My life more than slightly, resembles a 1950's juvenile delinquent movie and I have every intention of keeping it that way. I make amazing, vegan bloody marys. I sing, play guitar, and other instruments. I speak a few languages badly. I built guitars for a while, now I am not. I was singing opera for a while, now I'm not. Now? I run a bar and book a venue. I am moderately to heavily tattooed, depending on who you ask. My grandparent's would say overwhelmingly tattooed, maybe distractingly tattooed (depending on the mood) but, they haven't seen them all. I love big, bad boy muscle cars and big, bad boys. No, wait.. wild boys.. No, wait, I mean my big, bad, wild boy. and I really like having fun. I have it all the time. I have a really big personality and an even bigger laugh. I did go to college and I have a very professional, rock and roll job; however, I made more money as a Peachy Puff (cigarette girl) than any other job I've ever had. Unfortunately, it gave me a rather sour personality defect from which I will never fully recover. I moved to Oakland from San Francisco five years ago, to retire from being popular and enjoy more barbeque'd foods. CLICK HERE TO GET A PRE-MADE LAYOUT

My Interests

Bohemian life and playing music with my gypsy friends. Producing art with the man I adore. I change a lot. Fires. Booking shows. Exploring. Adventure and fun. Seeing and doing as much as I can.

I'd like to meet:

It's the devil I love...

Music:

This space will NEVER be complete, but (in no particular order)... AC/DC, Acid King, Melvins, Code of the West, Gammera, Black Sabbath (Ozzy), Jimi Hendrix, Richie Havens, Pixies, favorite song of the moment is "Stranglehold" (the Nuge!). Psychedelic rock, Eminem, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Led Zeppelin, Tarnation, Junior Brown, Hank 1 and Hank 3, Johnny Cash, Emmylou Harris, Cat Power, Mark Lanegan, Tom Petty is so cool, Morphine, Tom Waits, Mark Growden and his electric pinata, all creepy carnival music, 60's monster music, I lost my virginity listening to NWA, I won't even start on opera, Will Oldham, Guitar Wolf, The Makers, Motorhead, early Heart, Captain Beefheart, the Oblivions, Nigel Pepper Cock (I'm on their upcoming album), Bluegrass, cowboy songs, my dad's cowboy songs, Cowboy Junkies, the Doors, Iggy Pop, Fleetwood Mac, Steppenwolf, Elvis Costello, Gram Parsons, 1960's garage rock, MC5, the Animals, the Zombies, the Seeds, and just about any other the ________ you can think to name. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds (Mick Harvey and I have the same guitar), Birthday Party, P J Harvey, the old Liz Phair, Tori Amos (she did a cover of Reign in Blood that is so fucking beautiful!), Holly Golightly, Deadbolt, Mellowdrone, Swell, Joy Division, Sixteen Horsepower, the Black Keys, Damien Rice, Wesley Willis, Rolling Stones (60's and 70's but, you know, for old guys, they still totally rock!), songs that say "fuck" are almost always good. I have an eight track collection (mostly rare 60's punk!!) and I have four record players so, I just love it on vinyl!

Movies:

Really, these days it's all about the Thin Man movies, film noir, Flo Ziegfeld, and sometimes water ballet. NOTE: 11/16- I just saw Rabbit Proof Fence. Unbelievably beautiful. See it!! I love movies and I am bored with listing things so, I'm not really gonna try this right now. But, here's an idea: I like fucked up movies about fucked up shit - zombie, horror, film noir, motorcycle, spaghetti westerns, and kung fu films are amoungst my very favorites. My new fave (thank you, Slick), Sore Losers... see it now! I am a bit of a Gram Parsons fan, Phil Kaufman is my hero (see listed below), and Johnny Knoxville is crazy hot so, I really enjoyed Grand Theft Parsons. Favorite Christmas movie, City of Lost Children... the way I see it, any movie with more than one Santa has got to be seasonal, right? I like midnight movies and juvenile delinquent films. The Doors and most, if not all, rock movies; I even love Eddie and the Cruisers. RIP Eddie Wilson.

Television:

is for suckers

Books:

I read obsessively and will read almost anything (even repair manuals). Art history books, asian history books, rock and roll history books, and anything on the circus or burlesque. I am a great storyteller who loves a great story so, I read a ton of biographys. I am fascinated by the social evolution of man and cultural differences. The Art of War. Hunter S. Thompson. Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. Really, the classics are my favorites, reading Ovid is fun for me. Dickens, Shakespeare, Francesca Lia Block's books are great to read aloud or for a mental break (such magical love stories). Edna St. Vincent Millay is my favorite poet but, I also enjoy Leonard Cohen, Rimbaud, and many others. James Joyce, Mann, Hammett, Neil Simon, Joseph Conrad... oh, if only I wanted to write all day.

Heroes:

Phil "Mangler" Kaufman - www.phkauf.com, my sweetheart, and my crazy cool grandpa.
