Deciding to play Death-Metal seems to be pretty idiotic in today’s Metal world, cause you need to be really unique to step out of this big pool of bands. Becoming of one these bands has exactly been the goal of Andi, Timo and Chris who formed Structural Defect in May 2003. Their intention was to create a sound that combines both, melody and aggression in one piece. The Line-Up has been completed by Moon, Thomas and Tobi pretty soon so the band could start with the writing progress of their first songs. As this job has been done very fast, Structural Defect played their first show in the Keller-Club in Gosbach, Germany.
The Audience’reaction has been totally positive, so these five guys decided to record their first Demo-CD in their rehearsal area. Because of that, Structural Defect were able to play several more shows to improve their stage acting but also to show the crowd, what their music is all about.
The recording of “It Breedsâ€should mark the first important cut in the band’s history. Recorded in 2004 together with Steffen Dobrick, “It Breedsâ€helped Structural Defect in getting well known in loads of areas. The CD was presented in a completey sold-out Berghof in Donzdorf, Germany. The first steps had been done…
At the end of 2004, Grunter Thomas left the band because of personal difference and this was actually Phil’s chance to step into the band. After some short rehearsals he played his first show in March 2005, the reactions were totally positive as well. Structural Defect have had a new Line-Up, played a couple of shows, until Miro left the band before their highly anticipated performance at the “Eisenwahn an der Eisenbahnâ€Festival. Certain changes had to be done: Phil started up doing all extreme vocals, supported by Chris. Timo is now responsible for all their clean vocals. A new era of Structural Defect should start…and it worked.
Things went just fine, so the guys went again in the studio to record two promotional songs: “March Of The Deadâ€and “The Ritualâ€which helped them to find various gigs all over the country. Although they just reflect a pretty little part of their music. With the entrance of Manu in 2006, their musical improvement even helped them to go on a European-Track with Macabre, Jungle Rot and Xenomorph.
In October 2006 Timo left the band because of musicial and personal reasons, since that day, the band focused on creating new tracks... New recordings will start in September 2007.
