Nemo are London's most respected and influential electro rock quartet. Since their first live performances in the summer of 2004, their fusion of electronics, punk dynamics and pop melodies has been turning heads across the UK and around Europe. Their unique and energy filled electro/rock/pop/punk sounds set them apart from the current indie scene. Described as “an explosive mix of Depeche Mode and The Clashâ€, this quintessentially English four piece are already inspiring adoration around the world.
As producers in their own right, they've recently completed the recording of their debut album 'Post Human Love' at their own ' Deepsee ' studios in Dalston, working in the process with Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys,Kasabian,Placebo), Charlie Francis (REM) Joe Wilson (Sneaker Pimps,Client,Trash Money) and Emre Ramazanoglu (producer of Mercury Prize nominated Lou Rhodes). Andy Ross (Blur, Food Records) and Alan McGee (Oasis, Creation) are a couple of their many insider fans. Singer James has appeared in several episodes of The Mighty Boosh series 1 and 2, making cameos both on screen and in the cult comedy duo's live shows, electro-singer songwriter Imogen Heap is a friend, fan and collaborator, as is Nighty Night's writer and star, Julia Davis . Their near legendary and pioneering electro new wave club, 'The System' has played host to such illustrious guests as Richard Archer ( Hard FI ), Graham Coxon , Robots In Disguise , White Rose Movement , IAMX and Chikinki . The club has even found its way onto the continent via original NY new-wave promoter 'Steve Maas' in Berlins Mudd Club. Through their club success in Berlin over the last year or so, Nemo are now regularly touring Germany, both as headline and support act. The album is out on general German release as of March, through DeepSee, Cant Stop productions and Broken Silence distribution.
Nemo's many live performances have included a UK tour support and backing band role with double grammy nominated Imogen Heap and dates with the legendary The Sneaker Pimps (singer James Cook also toured and played with singer Chris Corner under his latest incarnation, IAMX). Support slots have included Maximo Park, Pete Doherty, We Are Scientists , Mystery Jets , Robots in Disguise, VHS or Beta , The Infadels , The Paddingtons , The Whitest Boy Alive , Client and Lorraine . In July 2006, Nemo received the Under The Sky jury prize for best new band at 40th Montreux Jazz Festival, and returned last year to the main stage this for 41st in 2007. They have also headlined Alan McGee's club night ' Death Disco ' and Berlin's legendary Rio and White Trash .
Their second single, 'Car Crash Eyes' released on their own 'Deepseemusic' label in April 2007 is set to follow in the footsteps of their debut 'Lifespan' (played on Radio 1's Zane Lowe show). 70s punk legend Tom Robinson is also a fan, already having made 'Car Crash Eyes' a featured song on his BBC 6 music show. The song, an ode to the darkly obsessive world of the e-groupie is a blast of epic electro rock darkness mixed with a pure pop chorus.
