Since September of 2000, Halfway To Nowhere seemlessly blends their melodic hard rock roots with the pop punk they started with from their base in San Rafael, California. Birthed from the music scene that brought up bands like AFI and Green Day, Halfway To Nowhere is proof that the music scene is going strong. First making a name for themselves in July of 2001 as the first place champions of the Marin County Battle of the Bands with an incredible crowd response, they surprised veteran bands and garage bands alike. Halfway To Nowhere is a musically talented band that has proven themselves as a solid opener or headliner, working with national touring acts and local acts. The music has a hard energy to it while maintaining its melodic beauty, compared to that of Thursday, Hoobastank, Thrice, and Jimmy Eat World.
Their rapid fan base growth in the Bay Area was only the start to becoming a known local name. Step by step, their musical maturity and energetic, infectious stage presence was their ticket to playing around the bay, and since then they have been booking consistently, playing competitions and shows from small to big venues, sharing bills with bands from larger indie labels like Tooth and Nail and Epitaph. Their first legit hometown show helped set an attendance record with a turnout of over 250, and they have sold out The Oasis more than once.
Halfway To Nowhere signed to PopSmear Records in March 2003, released "Anthem of the Seasons" in June of that year, and embarked on their California support tour the month after. "Better Than That", the opening track, landed a spot as the first track for the Agent Records compilation of the best bands in the Bay Area scene. Before touring California the band picked up long-time friend Adam Bialik on guitar and vocals. Teamed with Pop Smear Records' mastermind Scott Llamas, who exploded Locale A.M. and MIRV to major-label attention, their debut full-length album "Anthem of the Seasons" hit in June 2003 and was a local favorite.
Starting in January of 2004, Halfway To Nowhere began the task of recording their follow-up album, "Beyond This City", with their best new material, unparalleled energy, and musical maturity with them. It is available now on www.smartpunk.com and has received an amazing response. Make sure to check out the FREE mp3's and the album! After release, the band went on a southwest US tour, spending almost a month on the road promoting the new album. Shortly after, the group disbanded and now are working on their own projects.
