Francis, born in Vienna under Taurus, took his first piano lessons at the age of 6, went over to playing the guitar at the age of 12 which was followed by the electric bass guitar and finally the double-bass. Besides his musical education which was conducted by various private teachers and lecturers, he studied analytical philosophy at the University of Vienna until he finally ended up studying music at the vienna conservatory.
