About Me

I want to look forward now because looking back is just harmful. So here is a boxful of things about the future me.
I'm doing Creative Sound and Music Technology at Leeds Met. If you're there too and you see me about come and say hi I'm a nice guy really once you get past the crippling nervousness ^_^ I think I will do really well on this course if I knuckle down and do some work. I hope I meet lots of like minded people on the course. I will reach my goal and become a famous record producer and make squillions of pounds. Or Euros, whatever is the cunrrency by the time I finish this course. I will be recording albums of my own music during the course, whenever possible, so watch this space.
I like to laugh. I laugh at things people wouldn't think to laugh at. Life is a funny old thing, and if you take it too seriously you can go a bit mental. Apparently I'm a really funny guy, but I'll let you be the judge of that.
I live in Leeds and it's a bit bit for a smal town guy like myslef, but I love this city so I hope to have lots of fun and make lots of new friends ^_^ If you're ever in Burley and you see a big swanky looking house come and knock ^_^
I am a musician. I play guitar mostly, but I also play other instruments to varying degrees. Tryed to learn the violin, but I cant get the hang of it just yet. I plan to learn every single musical instrument there is in the world. I will move on to the trumpet when I can afford one. I really want a cello as well. Got the room for one now as well ^_^
I used to work in a rehearsal studio for bands, but I was forced out of the job by a stupid scouse git. It's a tough job but someone's got to do it ^_^ I sat in the office and watch Southpark for a few hours a week. The pay was shit and it was boring, but I love the fact that we're providing a service for people to do what they love so it's worth it. The job has gone down the pan so I'm going to find somebody else who will be kindly enough to employ me. Although I might not bother.
I love kittens. And cats. I want a cat, but I'm not allowed one.
I love to cook, which has got to be a good thing hasn't it? I love food and the pleasure it brings me. I have a compulsive eating disorder but I manage it quite well thank you. In fact I tend towards the losing of weight, but Im all muscley and stuff so it's all good.
Music is my life, and I think I want to start a band again. I will figure out what kind of music I want to make, learn to sing and be a fucking rock star by golly. I can sing really though. I just need to learn to do it in front of people while I'm playing my guitar (it's harder than it looks).

My Interests

Music, debate, musical debate, anything but cricket. Really. Anything. But not cricket. It's so fucking dull. Oh and golf. I like having a good discussion about stuff. Nothing I like more than a good rant about stuff. I am also interested in mixing pleasure and pain. Oo er.

I'd like to meet:

I want to meet people who can hold my interest for more than five minutes. I have a wandering mind, it rambles all over the place, all the time, I want to meet people who can keep up with it. Perhaps even compete with it.

I want to meet intelligent people. Not necessarily geniuses, but people who have a bit of common sense and a thirst for knowledge. People who can converse for hours about a five minute news story they just watched or something similar. Thinkers, really. People who don't just accept things, and ask WHY?

I want to meet people who share my interests, and my view on the world. This world is a beautiful place, full of joy and wonder and we should be thankful for every second we are given. I have struggled for a long time about the meaning of life and the workings of the universe and things of that nature. But I've come to realise that not even Einstein or Stephen Hawkings have figured it all out yet so I haven't really got a chance. All I know is the sun feels good on my skin, the flowers smell heavenly and a cup of tea tastes just lovely.

I also want to meet all you lovely girls out there. Yes. All of you ^_^ And by lovely I don't mean hot. Friendly, nice, funny, intelligent, not necessarily in that order.

Music:

I was raised on indie, grunge, ska and old school punk and thats pretty much what I listen to today. Although I have branched out a bit. Music is AMAZING AND I LOVE IT. I have put up a blog somewhere containing a list of my CD collection. Go look at it. It needs updating which I will probably do soon, but there's still a lot in there.

Movies:

Marx Brothers Animal Crackers (1930).avi

A film starring the Marx Brothers from 1930. Absolute classic, with many of the classic jokes from Groucho Marx you may have heard over the years.

Marx_Brothers_-_Horse_Feathers_(1932).avi

Another classic Marx Brothers outing. Groucho Marx is simply a legend! Wellll, here is a list of what I have in my DVD/video collection, its not all the films I like/have seen, but it gives you a good idea. This also needs updating, which I shall also probably do soon.

Television:

A lot of my favourite shows have been cancelled now. In fact most of them have. Star Trek, Buffy, Angel, Stargate, all that geeky stuff. If it wasn't for the new Doctor Who series I would be going a bit apeshit. I do watch a fair bit of TV, I usually kick out of bed in time for Neighbours, go out, come in for Hollyoaks, watch some documentary or other, bit of Big Brother and any decent comedy that's on and that's about it. I also like stupid girly shows like Totally Frank and Sugar Rush but that's a different story...

Books:

I read a lot. I chain read books, as soon as I've finished one I start another one. Basically, I read Terry Pratchett, Tom Holt and Robert Rankin. They are all geniuseses. But I sometimes read other books. I also like reading non fiction, like history, archaeology and theoretical physics. One of my favourite non-fiction books to date is the biography of Mussolini I got to help with my A level History exam. Lets just say I got an A in that module. Its a good book. I believe the author was Dennis Mack Smith. In fact, I read everything, signs, sides of buses, everything. I absorb information like Johnny Five.

Heroes:

Heroes? Crap. Erm..... People who stand up to the pricks in this world, people who rise above the stupidity and mass hysteria and just get on with things, people who call religious people stupid (cos they ARE), George Bush (kidding!!), people who make advancements in science that better our lives, people who reminds us of the basic joys in life (Ray Mears) and anyone who has been influential and inspirational to music and to me. The world is full of heroes, working hard every day against the long thankless struggle that life is. But also Bill Hicks - he was a fucking prophet, I would listen to him over Jesus any day. Kurt Cobain - his songs give me goosebumps. The man sang from the very depths of his soul and ran it through his guitar. No-one rocks as hard as Nirvana any more. Where's the fucking rock n roll gone? Also my heroes are people who give good head and love it XD :-9. I believe that we should all be our own heroes an all that shite...
