It all started during Carnival season 2004 in Aruba. The brains of the operation being Derwin a.k.a Master Gusto and Harvey a.k.a Toolman put together a crew of musicians and went on to cause an entire ruption during the Carnival season in Aruba. With many hit songs under which most notably the songs Jabi (Keys) performed by Carmichael Richardson a.k.a Mikey and Aruba ta Hot performed by Eugene Kemp a.k.a E.K. caused fury in the place blowing out everyone. Shortly after the Carnival season the mad scientists Gusto and Toolman, decided to continue the movement up in Holland.
Toolman famed for his days with Sylanz and Riddimband and Gusto for his days with BMW, set out to search for a group of explosive dedicated young musicians that would go on to make up the official line up of the Youth X-Treme band.
Toolman started out by recruiting a crew of front men for the band. He recruited his former band mates from Sylanz and Riddimband, Ron a.k.a Tigah Eyes and Arnaldo a.k.a Razor both from Aruba, to be the smooth and silk of the band up front, singing and driving all the ladies crazy. Toolman then went on the recruit Gino D. from Sint Eustatious to mash up the beats on the drums and give the band a more up the islands sound with his high pitch singing.
Following up on this and going on the recommendation from a fellow musician, Gusto went on the recruit guitarist Igmar V. also from Aruba, to be the drive and style of the band with his unique and stylish rhythmic playing and lead solo work. Lastly the band needed a show man, a show stopper to rock the crowds. Upon his arrival from Saba, Cirilio a.k.a Daddy Slim was recruited by Toolman to be the last and final edition to the band’s rather unique line up. Slim knows how to put on a show upfront with his singing, chanting and unique presence on stage. With the Toolman ripping up the bass and chanting on the mic and Gusto on the keyboard and firing up the jam sessions with his singing, this line up of students/musicians, 5 from Aruba, 1 from Sint Eustatious and 1 from Saba have been blowing off the roof at every show and party they play at. With its members coming from places all over Holland such as Rotterdam, Tilburg, Utrecht and Breda, the band has chosen to make its home at the Toolbox Dominionz Headquarters in Rotterdam.
By playing at places like BlackLite and Kings Place in Rotterdam and lighting up the 2004 Aruba Summer Carnival Queen election show at Marriot hotel in Amsterdam just to name a few, the band has been rocking crowd after crowd regularly and making a name for itself. Boosting up the bands reputation by releasing its single "Toul..", Youth X-treme's fame growed day by day both in Holland, Aruba and rest of the Antilles. In late 2004, Sharisa R. was added to the frontline of Youth X-treme as female vocal.
Carnival 2005 was a very good season for Youth X-treme. They went to become Aruba's youth Band of the year, bringing out their first CD entitled "beyond greatness" on the market which was the best sold CD during that carnival season. Travelling between Holland and the antilles for some time, the band has gained more popularity trough 2005 and early 2006.
During carnival 2006, Youth X-treme was once more given the Youth Band of the year award for the carnival season in Aruba.
Lastly our fellow members in Aruba E.K. and Mike don’t forget we are all one. Let’s keep on mashing them up. Big up and Nuff Respect. And to our fans everywhere, Peace Out and Nuff Love to everyone coming from the Youth X-Treme Crew and stay tuned for Youth X-Treme coming to you!
