I'm a Modern day Blues man in the old traditional ways.
I play Harp Traditional, Contemporary, Acoustic, Gospel, Rhythmn and Blues, and Funk styles.
I currently am playing in the Vance Kelly and The Backstreet Blues Band getting my skills the old-fashioned way note by note and breath by breath every night in the small smokey clubs on the southside of town, where the blues reigns supreme.
Yeah, we also do the big neon lights downtown and on the Northside of Chicago. Places like Kingston Mines, and B.L.U.E.S on Halsted to name a couple.
I'm currently playing five nights a week plus sometimes.I received my name in Minneapolis from Jimi Prime-time Smith, and if you know anything about the blues there is a tradition that is treasured among the blues artists and their names, outsiders are unaware of the inner workings of how its done. Ask me and I might tell you, and then again I might not.I've also played with and jammed behind some of the greatest and not so great of the Chicago Blues musicians. Sherman Moody Thomas, Holly "The Black Blonde Bombshell" Maxwell, Tre', Wayne Baker Brooks, Grown Man and The Mississippi Raiders, Tabu, Jojo Murray, Willie Davis, Lonnie Brooks, Tommy McCracken, Toronzo Cannon, Biscuit Miller and The Mix, Phill Guy, Delores Scott, John Primer and The Real Deal Blues Band, The Dirty White Boys, Fernando Jones and My Band, Stan Skibby and The Love Souldiers, Nellie "The Tiger" Travis and The Men In Black,Randy Johnson, GodFather, GrandMaster. Pat Scott, Ronnie Baker Brooks,Felton Cruz. Stan The Man. Just to name a few
