About Harold (Guitar/Vocals)
Harold started the musical side of his life by studying classical piano but later started playing guitar in high school, influenced by bands such as Cream, Grand Funk Railroad, Pink Floyd and others.
Influences: Today, his interests in music vary from the classics to country to rock and roll and heavy metal and French tunes...an eclectic taste in music just like the band.About Fiona (Lead Vocals/Guitar/Songwriting)
Experience: I've been singing since birth and then I started off seriously at age 14 playing bass, then guitar, then realized I was happiest in front of a microphone. I did back-up for a Lynryd Skyryd tribute (Street Survivor) then fronted the bands Cold Smoke and Ripper doing covers and my originals. I co-hosted and performed in the Sunday rock jams at Toronto's infamous El Mocambo. Up I went to Ottawa and joined "Your Alibi", then "Mask" (a theater rock band) doing the parts of Allanah Myles, Janis Joplin, Annie Lennox, Tina Turner, Pat Benetar and others. Since then I've been doing gigs with a variety of bands and finally found a home with "A Fine Mess". YAY!
Influences: The god-like Anne Wilson (Heart), Ronnie James Dio (Black Sabbath, Rainbow, Dio) and Freddie Mercury (Queen) were my main influences but I love almost all forms of music. Rock, Prog., Blues, R&B, Swing, Jazz and, in small doses, country (but no 'new' country), if they're good tunes, they're good tunes regardless of genre!About Mark (Bass)
Experience:
I played guitar and sang in a high school cover band from about 1992-93, usually did high school events, assemblies and such. Started another band playing punk&prog-tinged metal, all original material, of which I was the primary guitarist/singer/songwriter from about 1993-96. Played bass for the high school band and sang in the high school choir from 1993-95. After secondary school, played random events with friends, either on guitar or bass, frequently had jam parties, getting together musicians of all kinds of musical backgrounds and just going nuts. Started playing bass with the A Fine Mess in early 2006.
Influences:
First and foremost, committed metalhead. Literally grew up on Slayer, early Metallica, Maiden, Priest, Deicide, Death, Napalm Death and all things of the heavier ilk, even through the grunge years. Also love hardcore and punk, Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, Exploited, Circle Jerks, Misfits to name the big ones. And I'm in love with Ani DiFranco, protest folk rocks! That said, obviously classic rock holds a place in my heart, and is the tie that binds me to what we do in this band, I love it all!!
