I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I'm just a girl in the world... oh and I have a camera. Feel free to visit my photo page on Flickr I've tried a few different careers in my life and I'm finally chasing after one of my dreams in beautiful San Francisco. I am currently the only vegan I have ever known who has worked as a grill cook. I believe cooking is a spiritual practice. I enjoy life immensely and have the best people in the world to share it with. I am rather pessimistically optimistic about the future. ..

Music:

I love it. Let's hear it. I am a sucker for big chunky bass lines, funky house and throbbing dark industrial. Punk, funk, dance, hip-hop, classical and classics. Going to hear and see a good show can be like going to church for me.

Movies:

I'm not overly particular, I like movies that don't suck, but I'm partial to action movies, comedies and documentaries. Fight Club, Bottle Rocket, The Ususal Suspects, Election, The Big Lebowski, Dummy, The Future of Food, Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room, 40 Year Old Virgin, Pulp Fiction, Harvey, Walk the Line, Gilda, Batman Begins, Supersize Me, Nightmare Before Christmas, The Killer, Winged Migration... animated flicks, old movies, foreign movies and fluff on a Sunday afternoon. I think Wes Anderson is hilarious.

Television:

I only watch them on DVD occasionally or friends' TiVo's because I can't handle the responsibility of television, but here's the list: The Daily Show, Colbert Report, Arrested Development, Sport's Night, Desperate Housewives, PBS, BBC, Lost, Six Feet Under, Queer As Folk, Deadwood, Sex and the City, Simpson's... I think you get the idea.

Books:

It's a long list and I'd like to think I am more than the sum of what I appreciate. I do have a thing for literature. I made the trek to University of London to study Shakespeare and English Literature. I like political rants, comedy, poetry and good stories. Omnivore's Dilemma, Good Omens, Me Talk Pretty One Day, Reefer Madness, Ecstasy, The Passion, Blood Meridian, Sailing Alone Around the Room... there are usually 12 or more books by my bedside in active curculation (at least 3 will be cookbooks).

Heroes:

My loving friends and family. Stephen Colbert, Bethany McLean, Oscar Wilde, Eric Schlosser, Henry Rollins, Morgan Spurlock, Julia Child, George Eliot... anyone who never allowed themselves to fall asleep at the wheel.
