It was Darren Jay who gave Bengal his first real break playing with many world class DJs and MCs in 2001 with a weekly residency for his night 'BLOW' @ The Escape Club in Brighton. From playing there he linked up with DJ Dash (CTRL Z) both going on to becoming residents for 'CHATTERBOX' from 2002-2005. Primarily a DJ it wasnt long before Bengal soon realised that there was only so far he could go in the scene without producing his own dancefloor tunes.
After succesfully completing an entry level Music Tech course @ Northbrook College in 2002, he went onto enrol at an intensive Sound Recording & Music Technology course @ IMW in 2003. It wasn't long before he completed the course in London when Danny Wheeler introduced Bengal to Sylo and this new production duo's tunes started to really come together.
Their first collaboration 'Chase HQ' saw Ed Solo take serious notice when Bengal brought down an early mix to Undiluted's studio in Brighton. Upon Fatman D's instant rewind of a dubplate of 'Chase HQ' at 'Chatterbox' Bengal knew that the tune was gonna work in the clubs and they quickly got back into the studio to make the other side.
'Remember Dis' was the follow up to 'Chase HQ' with its huge intro and bouncing bass it soon beacame a favourite opener at many big raves all over the world for the likes of DJ Hype, J-Majik, Nicky Black Market, Benny Page and Brockie who all supported it long into it's release on Undiluteds debut album 'Pure', which featured the talents of Brockie & Ed Solo, Twisted Individual, Kane, Bengal & Sylo and Trevelyan & Icarus with their massive hit Fruit X.
With the LP 'Pure' going to No 1 in 1Xtras and Grooverider & Fabios Drum & Bass Chart, it wasn't long before Bengal & Sylos debut release was gaining them international exposure as artists and respect in the scene back home. Bengal hyped up by his new signing quickly knocked out an unreleased VIP of 'Reprazent' with Ed & Brockie. This led onto Bengal & Ed working more together on a new project for fresh, up and coming label Skimrok Recordings. It was Bengals chance meeting with Bandit that led onto to their first single for Skimrok Recordings in 2005 with 'Vimto' & 'Gaffa Tape'. The next single ‘Hi Flyer’ is already lined up for Skimrok and has been receiving selected support from the scenes top DJs in clubs and on the radio.
After forming production partnership’s Bengal thought it was about time to show people that he could hold his own in the studio as well as collaborate with artists and took on remixing the mighty Turntable 1 for Undiluted’s Remix EP, again gaining No 1 status in 1Xtras and Grooverider & Fabios Drum & Bass Chart. The record features Chase & Status’s reworking of ‘Reprazent’ on the flip and is one of 2007’s biggest sellers.Throughout all this time with regular shows on Pyrotechnic Radio and Origin FM Bengal started to focus more time on DJing and promoting Undiluted nights in Brighton @ ‘The Volks’ and ‘The Beach Club’ with his partner Natalie, taking a brief step back from production. They enjoyed a good run of success from June 2006 to March 2007 regularly reaching capacity and giving the Brighton ravers a consistent dose of Undiluted bass with support from the ever legendary ‘Gramps Hi-Fi’.
However all good things come to an end and right now see’s Bengal sorting out tours for ‘10 Years Of Undiluted Records’ and getting back into the studio where you can expect to see collaborations with; Benny Page, Rhythm Beater, Sylo, Wickaman, Brockie and Ed Solo, Herbzie & Eksman, Andy Baron, remixes for UK Hip- Hops talent J2K and a four track EP for Undiluted with a remix of the classic ‘Voices’ amongst other brand new flex’s.
