Mr. Richardd with a double d, for a double dose of my pimpin' style!

About Me

kickball 4eva! i'm a wannabe rock star who teaches science to pay the bills, and plane tickets to various other countries.i'm a displaced canuck living in the BK. i represent maple leaf style. i once grew a fu manchu. it was the greatest achievement of my life. and when you think about it, other then the trimming and shaving, it takes very little effort on my part. facial hair, well, it just grows on it's own. this kind of makes it rather pathetic that i would rank it as my greatest achievement, but that's just the way i am, i guess. i'm also a very poor speller, despite the fact i am a scrabble god.i now know what an autoclave is.

My Interests

genetic mutants. zombies. and some squirrels. not the ones that live in my wall though, they freak me out a little bit.kickball, the exclaim and carlton cup (go hockey!), banjos, guitars (particularly of the acoustic variety), computers, books, music, ice (to play hockey on), zombies, international kickball tournaments, good food, tofu, chocolate soy milk (a foul temptress), the alligator lounge, hi-fi.

I'd like to meet:

genetic mutants. and zombies. and maybe squirrels, if they're the right type.

Music:

rock plaza central, decemberists, ted leo, neutral milk hotel, wrens, built to spill, matt pond PA, iron & wine, mommyheads, superchunk, john fahey, magnetic fields, postal service, pixies, gbv, m.ward, papa M, sufjan stevens, okkervil river, arcade fire, wolf parade, gram parsons, magnetic fields, led zeppelin,

Movies:

idiocracy, supertroopers, wings of desire, strange brew, squid and the whale, brick, red, white, blue, starship troopers (but not the second one, that was freakin' terrible, i mean, really, i was like, "please, for the love of god, don't make this a bad mind control sci fi flick, we've all seen body snatchers, and it was awesome! but don't do it. i mean, really, i'm embarassed enough for the both of us at this point". but it just kept going, and getting worse and worse, and what should have been a highlight of 2004 fell flat on it's face. sigh), secretary, george washington, lost in translation, spiderman 2 (it WAS slightly better then the first).

Television:

dead like me. enough said. well... i guess i'll add a few more - six feet under, northern exposure, kids in the hall, daily show, matchmaker, blind date, lost. any bad dating show, jeopardy, buffy (sigh), angel, ER. and, embarassingly enough, dr. phil. . and the makers of king of queens should be killed.

Books:

no logo, white noise, geeky science stuff (the elegant universe, hot damn!), chuck palahniuk, white teeth, petit prince (but only en francais, i'm an ass), nick hornby, life of pi, bad sci fi, dune. cookbooks, harper magazine, and currently, various geeky teaching books by overenthusiastic education ph.d.s who know what they are talking about but sort of annoy me. i'm looking at you harry wong.

Heroes:

this is kind of a dumb category. i admire cats for their general lack of caring about anything but eating and sleeping, i admire insects cause i think they are pretty neat. i also like people that ride bicycles but i don't know if i have any hero worship action for them.
