Alphabetising, obviously
*Cinema: I've become so addicted to films recently that I can't go more than about two days without watching one. See below.
*Cult TV
*Music: Finding new bands, promoting them at every oppurtunity, dancing crazily at their gigs, and stealing taking posters as a souvenir.
Random weird stuff that I can put in my room like Tim Burton's Staring Girl, Edward Monkton pictures and pinbadges pinned to a pirate flag.
Spain/Spanish, French, Italian, Catalan, Portuguese...languages generally.
Theatre, especially musical theatre.
I'd like to meet:
People in my heroes section, despite the fact that several are dead.
Music:
Keeping my list of music taste current is too hard and takes up too much space so here are some general guidelines:
*If it's played on Virgin Xtreme, I will like it. For the uneducated, Virgin Xtreme plays newmusic, mainly indie, but with some emo delights mixed in for good measure.
*'Torch songs' are massively underated. I love anything that tells a story, whilst being melodramatic and involving lots of hand gestures. Think Marc Almond, Scott Walker and Jacques Brel.
*Joan As Police Woman has a stunningly beautiful voice
*I like to indulge in emo, and therefore own every song that Brand New and Taking Back Sunday have ever made.
*The 80s rule. Say Hello To Soft Cell is one of my most listened to CDs.
*Bands that can be stalked on MySpace and around London are bands that I like. God Love You For A Liar, Crash Convention, The Mules, The Tacticians, Light Brigade, The Cavaliers, Fire? Escape!, Innercity Pirates, Awful Sparks, William Kay and Noughts & Crosses.
This song makes me ridiculously happy.
Check out Clocks on MySpace!
Movies:
Films have become my life. Listing all the films I own and love would take far too long, so, again, guidelines:
*If it's South American or European I want it.
*Old classics are fun. They just don't make actors like they used to.
*You can't beat a good cult classic. The weirder, the better.
*If a book says I must see a film before I die, I will want to watch it. Similarly, if Mark Kermode likes it, I will too.
*If it stars any of the people below, I will watch it.
My top fifteen are:
*American Beauty
*Bad Education
*Beauty & The Beast
*Cabaret
*Donnie Darko
*The Dreamers
*Empire Records
*Fight Club
*I *Metropolis
*The Philidelphia Story
*Requiem For A Dream
*The Rules Of Attraction
*Secretary
*V For Vendetta
Television:
I like programmes and then American TV executives cancel them. This means I don't watch much TV.
Books:
I have many many books that are sitting around saying read me. Next to them is an ever increasing collection of books about films, because I like to pretend I take Film Studies. I'm currently working my way through the books I find in The Fopp, 'cause you can guarantee they'll be amazing.
Heroes:
My friends for making life much more fun and exciting.
Then there're people who aren't heroes, but make/made the world a more interesting place to live in:
Marc Almond, Simon Amstell, Darren Aronofsky, Jean-Michel Basquiat, John Barrowman, Jacques Brel, Tim Burton, Norbert Leo Butz, Larry David, Bob Fosse, Gael Garcia Bernal, Michael Grandage, Cary Grant, Keith Harring, Ruthie Henshall, Jim Henson, Grace Kelly, Simon Lipkin, Baz Lurhmann, Cameron Mackintosh, Jeff Marks & Rob Lopez, Sam Mendes, Idina Menzel, Edward Monkton, Chuck Palahniuk, Pablo Picasso, Jon Robyns, Dana P. Rowe and John Dempsey, Sherie Renee Scott, David Shrigley, Kevin Spacey, James Stewart...And, of course, Tim Curry.
