About Me

Episode 7: Myspace Special - Bumper Episode:...

Note about story: This time around I have tried to include a few of my Myspace friends in the adventure. Sorry if you are not featured or if I have missed anyone out, but I wasn't able to fit everyone in and kind of had a story line in mind already. Hope you enjoy and maybe we can team up in the future. I am always open to cross over suggestions!

Origins of Batfrog

Herpetologist Dr. Byron Coleman was sent on an expedition to New Zealand to find a specimen of the extremely rare and scarcely seen ‘vampire frog’ that was rumoured to exist. After travelling for five days, his team eventually came to the area in the Coromandel Ranges, where the only sightings of the frog had been recorded.
At nightfall, he ventured into the mouth of a nearby cave to start his search for the nocturnal creature. After hours of unsuccessful searching, Dr. Coleman was ready to head back to camp when out of the corner of his eye he caught a glimpse of something glistening on the cave wall.

He shone his torch beam on the object and saw a creature like no other he had seen. It was the vampire frog! He lunged out and grabbed it and as he did so, he fell backward over a small ledge into a cave pool, creating a splash which echoed loudly around the cavern. The whole cave came alive with a commotion as thousands of bats swooped around his head. He suddenly felt a sharp pain as the frog he was still holding bit him on the hand and as fate would have it at precisely the same moment a bite on his neck was inflicted by a bat.

When he awoke he was disorientated but realised he was back at camp and it was morning. He was then told he had been asleep for two days and that he had been talking in his sleep and having vivid dreams. Under the circumstances they decided to call off the search and go back to London empty-handed.

During the flight home, Dr. Coleman felt unusual and came down with severe fever. Upon landing, he was rushed to hospital and placed under observation for a number of weeks. During this time, he felt some unusual sensations and developed an extreme appetite. However, after various tests they could find nothing wrong with him, so he was free to leave.

After coming out of the tube station close to his home he made his way down a poorly lit alley way. All of a sudden he heard a piercing scream and in the distance he could make out two silhouettes in a struggle. Dr. Coleman ran towards the two figures and was upon them in no time at all. A tall, well built man had an elderly woman at knifepoint and was trying to tear her handbag free. Within a split second Dr. Coleman had disarmed the man and knocked him to the ground effortlessly. There was no logical explanation for what he had done, but the woman he had helped was eternally grateful and equally baffled.

Although he did not yet fully understand what he was capable of, he somehow knew what he must do - “I will rid the streets of oddballs and social misfits and make London a safer place to live,” he vowed. And from that day forward Dr. Coleman strived to become the superhero we now know as Batfrog, the amphibious crusader.
