A combination of new and old, the Dirt Merchants are bringing Hip Hop back to its basic form in a progressive fashion. The rugged production, handled by underground super producer Bennett, is a seamless blend of samples and synths on top of drums that will kick a hole in your chest. Madix, the emcee for the Merchants, compliments Bennett's production like no one else can. From highly conscious and political to viscious battle records, Madix is an emcee who prides himself on lyrics, focuses on the innovation of his flow and refuses to dumb anything down for anybody.
Put Bennett and Madix together and you have top-notch music, add one of Northern California's best DJ's, DJ Duke-I, and you have the Dirt Merchants. Turntablism is where many underground groups fail, but the Dirt Merchants keep the scratch alive with Duke-I.
In 2006, the Dirt Merchants released their first album, Something from Nothing." Since the release of the album the Merchants have been playing venues throughout the West Coast and continue to wow audiences with their impressive performances. Recieving a major amount of attention in 2006 (Sacramento Hip Hop Artist of the Month - Anomie1, National Artist of the Month - Hiphopgame) the Dirt Merchants are poised for a big 2007.
