About Me

“... creating original, spiritually moving music that transcends genres; blending elements of Eastern European folk idioms with Classical & Progressive Rock. Your senses will be captivated by his intense harmonic personality, colorful sonic language & joie de vivre. He is a creator of worlds."Initially influenced by composers such as Shostakovich, Bartók and Górecki, Andrew Rosciszewski has been intrigued by the folk music of his Polish heritage and has managed to assimilate it into his own style. He developed his approach free of any particular school of thought or teacher's influence and composes in a colorful, eclectic style that reflects his passion and diversity of a wide musical palette. He has grown to incorporate his love of progressive rock music in addition to classical music making rhythm a cornerstone of his work, often emphasizing shifting meters and incorporating song and dance idioms. The diversity of this highly individual musical personality can be traced in his work – ranging from the slow lament of the Romance for String Orchestra to the modal melodies of Smierc Polka, and the fast flamboyant movements of the Fantastic Adventure on Marimba. In 2004 the Vermont Philharmonic premiered his Frail’ty Concerto for rock band and orchestra at the State House in Montpelier. They also premiered Mr. Rosciszewski’s Romance for String Orchestra in the summer of 2003. He has performed in the NYC Fringe Festival and extensively in the New York/New Jersey area while finding time to compose music for "Eyes on Infinity", his progressive rock band. In 2002 he was commissioned by the Evening Rhapsody Wind Trio for their 2002 Premier Grant from the Council on the Arts & Humanities for Staten Island. Mr. Rosciszewski (ASCAP) holds a Bachelor’s of Arts in Music degree from New Jersey City University. Past teachers include Dr. Stelio Dubbiosi and Louis Kosma of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.

Sounds Like:

If I were a Dead Russian Composer, I would be Dmitri Shostakovich!

I am a shy, nervous, unassuming, fidgety, and stuttery little person who began composing the same year I started music lessons of any sort. I wrote the first of my fifteen symphonies at age 18, and my second opera, "Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District," when I was only 26. Unfortunately, Stalin hated the opera, and put me on the Enemy Of The People List for life. I nevertheless kept composing the works I wanted to write in private; some of my vocal cycles and 15 string quartets mock the Soviet System in notes. And I somehow was NOT killed in the process! And Harry Potter(c) stole my glasses and broke them!

Who would you be? Dead Russian Composer Personality Test
