From: ??Nutin But Ur Shawty??© RIP Fred
Date: May 31, 2008 2:31 PMhere's mi boy buddy's story:Buddy was pretty much abandoned. This Pit Bull/Preso Canario mix was found tied up to a radiator with no food or water. The neighbor ((who called the shelter)) told them that they haven't seen the man who was sapose to be feeding him for 2 weeks. The shelter also found out that the lady who orrigionaly had Buddy, cut off his ears b/c she thought he could hear better. :/ stupid huh?!! after the lady signed Buddy over to the shelter, he was temperment tested, & then put up for adoption.
the 1st day he was up,2 vollenteers took his picture for www. petfinder. com he was a perfect gentlemen for pictures & even posed for the camera. while they were outside taking pics, a mother & daughter drove by. they vollenteer alot at the shelter. they were coming home from the hospital. she had been sick for the past 8 months. the next day the doctor released the daughter to go to the shelter, but she couldn't go inisde of it yet. just walk the dogs outside & play w/ them in the pen. Buddy was her second chioce. the dog she wanted for her 1st choice had "Happy Tail". its where the end of the dog's tail opens & starts to bleed from hittin the kennel. the doctor said that the daughter couldn't touch blood. so the mother brought out Buddy. he instantly knew something wasn't right w/ this girl. they walked & played. she decided to sit on the ground w/ him. he layed right next to her, accually leaning on her. she got thirsty soo she tried to get up to go get a waterbottle out of the car. she struggled alittle b/c her legs were week from chemo. & w/out her knowing it, Buddy gently nudged her leg & helped her up. 1 of the workers at the shelter saw this & almost cried. from then on all the workers & the daughter & mom said he would be a good service doggy. for the next 8 1/2 months she had her mom go inside the shelter ((b/c she still couldn't go iniside :/ )) & get Buddy. she would say "Bud Bud!!" & he would pull hard on the leash to run to her. she trained him on his obediance & manners. she also taught him how to play frizbee like what the competitions are. throwing 1 frizbee, the dog catching it, then dropping it, throwing another frizbee, & so on. he loved it! he wouldn't quit lol. she taught him how to sit, lay dow, roll over, stay, crawl, speak, "go get it" in spanish ((he would go get his toy after you point at the 1 u wanted him to get)), "where is it?" in spanish ((he would look for the toy he was playin w/)), & "i love you" in spanish ((he would kiss u after u said it)). he was the best dog she ever trained at the shelter. she was the only person he would listen to fully. he helped her up like a true service dog ((her legs were VERY weak)). he would walk when she walks & if he was ahead of her he would look back & stop to make sure she was still there. if he started to pull b/c he got excited that someone was coming over to pet him, she would say "wait" & he would stop & settle down alittle. but his butt was still wagging fastly. he was a black color, but had a brownish streak going done his backbone. the shelter thinks it was from the heat from the radiator. even though he was black, part pit bull & part preso canario, & had his ears cut off, which was 3 strikes against him in getting adopted, she still loved him. other people would be scared of him thinking he was going to attack them & she would laugh b/c Buddy was scared of his own shadow sometimes lol. He was & will always be her boy. Buddy was a victem to what the media protrays pit bulls as. MEAN, VICIOUS, KILLERS. but THEY R NOT! he had to be put down because of people's fear. Bud you are & always will be the best example of a pit bull. KIND, LOYAL, GOOD NATURED. 1 day he will be w/ me agian. but for now he's happy & content in rainbow bridge.-----------------------------------------------------
------PITBULLS IN HISTORY
PITBULL AND ALZHIMERS PATIENT
From: Paws In The Cookie Jar PITBULL RESCUE Date: Feb 11, 2008 5:39 PM This was an email I recieved... I did not write this.. But people should see it!So, you want to breed your Pit Bull? If you truly care about those dogs, what follows should change your mind...Remember this; if ever you produce a litter of Pit Bull puppies and you are lucky enough to miraculously find homes for all of them, it is only because an equal amount of existing dogs GAVE THEIR LIFE to make room for your puppies... RIP Sweet BabiesSTATISTICSOnly 1 in 600 Pit Bulls will find a home - For every Pit Bull placed in a loving home 599 DIE!PBRC is listing HUNDREDS of homeless Pit Bulls hoping for a chance... PETFINDER "THOUSANDS" of them.... (combine Pit Bulls, AmStaffs and StaffyBull Terriers and you will have over 5000 Pit Bull type dogs listed for adoption in Pet Finder alone.)Pit Bulls are now the number one breed dog in the United States - Ironically, they are one of the hardest breed to find "good" homes for.200 Pit Bulls are killed PER DAY in Los Angeles alone because there are not enough homes. Imagine in the rest of the country.Every homeless Pit Bull that dies in the street and every one who sits hopeless in a shelter is the product of a breeder... either intentionally or accidentally...75% of shelters nationwide euthanize all Pit Bulls without even trying to adopt them out.One unspayed female dog, even by conservative calculations, can potentially be responsible for the birth of more than 67,000 dogs in just six years. Remember, Pit Bulls are the most overbred dog in America - think of how it adds up.Pit Bull often make up to 40% of all dogs found in a shelter. In Kansas City alone, it is not rare to see almost half of the local pounds filled with Pit bulls and pit mixes, all scheduled to be destroyed if not claimed by their owner within 5 days.DON'T BREED OR BUY WHILE SHELTER ANIMALS DIESTOP THE KILLING! Support Spay/NeuteringA LETTER TO PIT BULL BREEDERS, FROM AN EX PIT BULL BREEDERI am a volunteer for Missouri Pit Bull Rescue, and see that you plan on breeding your Pit Bull. I can not stress to you enough on how bad a mistake this would be.I am an ex-breeder myself. I had no idea how much damage breeding my dogs could do for Pit Bulls, not to mention how many serious problems I put my own dogs at risk of developing. I have since learned a great deal, and now dedicate my time trying to educate others about the reasons to never breed, as well as help in the rescue of Pit Bulls in need. Please take my words seriously. I am speaking from experience, and I wish someone would have told me the facts I'm about to share with you.First, please understand that there are currently more Pit Bulls in the United States than either other breed. The population is currently at epidemic levels, and there is simply not enough homes for them all. Current statistics are that 1 in 600 Pit Bulls will actually find a home. That means 599 Die. 75% of shelters nationwide euthanize all Pit Bulls without even trying to adopt them out.The above facts hopefully are enough to make you realize how serious a mistake it would be to bring more Pit Bulls into the world, when so many are dying now. However, consider this, before you even have to worry about placing the pups in safe homes, there are a lot of other obstacles you are going to have to face. First concerning your female. Pregnancy can cause a lot of serious complications that can lead to the death of your dog. Please visit this link that will give you a list of some of the possible and quite frequent problems you are putting your dog as risk for when you breed her. I ask you to please take notice of these facts. Breeders whether responsible or irresponsible, are one of the main reasons why Pit Bull Rescues exist. We are a group of volunteers, we have full time jobs, families, just as you, but we spend all available time trying to save these dogs, produced by breeders. We simply can't keep up. There are Pit Bulls dying all around us, every minute, because there aren't enough homes for them to go to. I beg you not to bring more into the world.Even if you don't believe the above horrors would happen to your pups, please think of this; even if you beat the odds, somehow miraculously you have a litter of pups that live, your female develops no complications, and amazingly you find the perfect home for 8-15 pups: For every pup you placed in a home, a Pit Bull was killed in a shelter or died homeless because of YOU!If you love the breed as much as you must to want to breed, then you can't possibly deny what an injustice it would be to those poor dogs, to bring more into the world now. I hope that you make the right choice, have your dog spayed, and help save the tremendous amount of Pit Bulls already waiting for a home.I hope that my words are taken seriously, and that you will choose the right path. It is the right decision, one that you can be proud of, your dog will be thankful for, and we will be so very grateful for as well. Please take a look at just some of the wonderful dogs that are so desperately need a home. The greatest challenge though, will be for you to visit your local animal shelter, and walk past the cages of all the perfectly friendly and healthy Pit Bulls that will be taking their last breath within days.http://www.mprgroup.net/dogs.html http://www.pbrc.net/dogpages/index.htmlI wish you luck, and I hope my words have made a difference in your life. I hope the faces of needy deserving Pit Bulls are able to touch you and convince you to never breed your dog. You can be part of the problem, or be part of the solution. Please choose wisely.Suzanne Mott Old Family Red Nose Missouri Pit Bull RescueHere is just one of the numerous litters of Pit Bull puppies euthanized in the City shelters as there are not enough good homes for those dogs. None of those pups made it out of the shelter alive....
