Young Montreal MC/Producer, originally from Damascus (Syria), FEROS immigrated to Canada in ‘96 with only Arabic as his spoken language. It didn’t take much time before he learned French and English, as well as the ways of the MTL streets that led him to his new gift, hustle and passion; the Rap Game. Influenced by groups from France such as Fonky Family, IAM and many others, 2Pac and other west coast rappers, as well as the Montreal city lifestyle, he developed his rugged French rap, exposing the hidden truth of today’s politics, the western views towards the east and the new emergence of racism to the eyes of the blind. While relating the latter issues to his city’s social, street and night life, FEROS tends to cover all sides of rap instead of sticking to today’s preferred gangster image.Having lived in different areas around the city such as Downtown, NDG and St-Lo, while staying connected with other neighborhoods through the streets, he met with other soldiers coming from different nationalities and formed United Minorities Records (UMR) for obvious reasons such as the common love and addiction to rap music, and the will to unite minorities from hoods from all over Montreal under a single movement; United Minorities. And thus becoming the MAJORITY. UMR presently has two other artists: SPITTIN COBRA (English rapper) and DARKSTARR (producer), who works with FEROS on the beats. By combining their musical tastes and talents, they develop instrumentals that include dirty south, west coast, New York's and France’s French rap rhythms, while giving a distinct and unique Montreal flavor. UMR is already leaving its mark after blowin’ up at the RIP THE MIC show that was held on Dec. 23rd, 2006 and 2007 at Sala Rosa. You can also hear some of their tracks bumping GBConline.ca and on GBC radio, every two Fridays at 13:00 PM or every Sunday at 1:00 AM, on 102.3 FM Radio CentreVille.
