Butch Lawson was born in Dallas, Texas and started singing and playing the guitar at age 10. By the time he was 16, he had all ready entered and won talent contests all over the State of Texas. He entered the United States Army at age 18 and spent 5 years and 13 days. Two of those years were served in the Vietnam Conflict with the 25th Infantry Division. After Vietnam, Butch came back to his hometown of Dallas and continued playing and singing Country Music. In 1975, Butch was spotted by a talent scout of Stardom Records, Nashville, Tennessee and was brought to Nashville to sign a contract and begin recording. Butch's first record was the last song The Late, Great Lefty Frizzell wrote with his good friend, Rusty Adams, before he passed on in 1975. The song was "Making Up Time" and was released in April of 1976. The single recording, "Making Up Time", reached number 5 on Nashville Billboard charts and also Number One Record World, May 1,1976. At that time Butch was playing and running around with one of his friends, Faron Young. While Butch was in Nashville, he had the pleasure of meeting and becoming acquainted with many Country Music Stars. In 1977, Butch returned to Dallas and continued his career as an Entertainer. Butch purchased several night clubs in Dallas and Fort Worth, where he brought on Stars such as, Wynn Stuwart, John Wesley Riles, Claude Gray, and Jimmy Dean, just to name a few. In 2002, Butch's record, "Making Up Time", was accepted in The Country Music Hall of Fame, Nashville, TN and is now on display with his photo in Lefty Frizzell's Musuem, in Lefty's hometown, Corsicana, TX. In 2004, Butch was one of the talent scouts for USA Records located at Loretta Lynn's Beautiful Ranch in Hurricane Mills, TN. At the present time, Butch heads up Texas Five Star Music and is still showcasing his talent at Loretta Lynn's Ranch.This page is still under construction.
