Scurvy & Lust are an acoustic urban-folk duo based in Baltimore, Maryland. Comprising of Brazilian "Lust" and American "Scurvy", the band formed in 2004. The group primarily played "guerrilla gigs" in the Baltimore area during their first incarnation. They gained quickly gained acclaim and recognition for their powerful stage presence and for their ability to sing songs in English, Spanish, French, and Portugese. In the Spring of 2005 the duo dropped the name "Scurvy & Lust" and became "The 7 Bearded Dutchmen". Unfortunately, the five other members of the new group - who were Dutch nationals - ran into visa issues and could not join the original duo to form the new band. The group issued a press release stating that the band would take a hiatus for an unknown period of time until issues with the five other members were resolved. Then, suddenly, in the summer of 2006, the original duo reformed under the "Scurvy & Lust" moniker and began performing again at the underground club Spliff Bunker II and embarking on the controversially titled "Following in Gen. Sherman's Footsteps: Reconquering the South" tour of various Southern American cities. Much of the band's musical style stayed the same, but with the surprising addition of guest musician Eric "Kingfish" Adams on guitar and vocals on sporadic occasions. The last perfomance by the group was late in the summer of 2005 at Spliff Bunker II and they have been on hiatus since then, although they are reforming for their first international tour in late 2007.
