Be the change you wish to see in the world...

About Me

Well, just a warning: the following will be...kinda stream-of-consciousness like:In case you were wondering about my background, my mom's filipino and my dad's black. I will be moving back to my childhood home in Southwest Washington, DC (yeah, VA didn't take all of it back).I tend to analyze things more than others...not that I overanalyze things; others just underanalyze them. :-)I'm relatively emotional. I'm empathetic as pisces tend to be, apparently. I'm a cock according to the Chinese zodiac, and I'm an ENTP according to a personality test. I'm a good listener, but I won't hesitate to talk and go on tangents.I was raised religious but am now independently spiritual. I love to dance. Definitely intend to be a triple threat as far as the performing arts goes. I'd like to believe I'm sowewhat intelligent, if not with what I know, then definitely by acknowledging what I don't know; and there's a lot I don't know that I'd like to know.I'm a rather friendly person, if not shy at times. But all it takes is a 'hey', sometimes. I like playing chess and monopoly and risk and cranium at times, and video games are always good in moderation. When I go out with friends, I will dance my a$$ off (which takes a while...there's a lot of-). Even bars and clubs, I take in moderation (and moderation is different for everyone). Actually, most things are good in moderation...even moderation. And there are always exceptions. If you'd like to hear me ramble more, just message me.School was a priority...but then I finally, FINALLY graduated!! but i'm also a procrastinator...say what you want, but I do my best work at the last second!! I just gotta keep telling myself that...And I know...my myspace page is boring and unoriginal :-P I keep telling myself i'll get around to doing something about it... did i mention i procrastinate?and i have two other profiles; if my picture's anywhere else, it's not me:
DJR - my DJ profile JR Russ - my dance/music/theatre profile
And (this is probably just asking for trouble) I'm also on Facebook:
but only add me if we actually know each other!! I'm also on Friendster; here's my profile (yeah, i'm that old)

My Interests

The Matrix, philosophy, logic, spirituality, dancing, theatre, acting, singing, reading, grokking, chess, technology, starscape, video games, kayaking, rock-climbing, roller coasters, eating, movies, talking, living, beingFor anyone interested, here's a list of shows i've done over the past decade, mostly school (high school and college) and community theatre:Grand Hotel (The Gigolo), Pippin, La Cage Aux Folles (Chantal), Footloose (Bickle), Hello Dolly, Me & My Girl, Brigadoon, Working, On the Town, Anything Goes, Arsenic & Old Lace (Jonathan Brewster), The Widow Ranter, Bye Bye Birdie, Guys & Dolls (Arvide Abernathy), The Good Doctor, West Side Story, and Best Foot ForwardAnd because there isn't a Dance section (yet) I'll just include that here: Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company , Chimera Dance Theater , Doug Varone and Dancers , Pilobolus , Saba Dance TheaterOther: Cirque du SoleilThere's also not a club section, so here are the pages for local parties that I've been to or definitely want to check out: Genesis , Lovedose , Pre-Fix , Sleaze , Sonar

I'd like to meet:

people who are open-minded, communicative, and understanding, those who realize that most things are not black or white, but a whole lotta grey, and those who aren't scared to move/dance, don't make assumptions, and then some.
if you wanna IM me, it's A Way of Life 0 i'd also like to meet anyone else who went to the Winter Music Conference, the Ameriacan Dance Festival :-) or plays Mxo (the Matrix ..)And, because this isn't Friendster or Facebook, if you just feel like adding me to your friends list, feel free to; but there's a chance that i won't accept your request (see list below).Seriously though, if I need to get more specific, you should message me if we have anything in common like:

If you're a performer, or enjoy the performing arts if you went and/or go to MC or UMDCP If you are gay, but don't just go to gay clubs/bars If you're a dork i.e. into sci-fi/fantasy/rpgs/etc. If you're mixed (ethnically/culturall/'racially') If you're in the area If you went to St. Albans or NCS or any other private school in the area If you're of college age (undergrad), a little above, or a little below If 'eclectic' defines you, either in your taste of music, circle of friends, or anything else If you like to play chess, or other board games If you like electronic dance music If you overanalyze things

I'm sure there's more, but that's it for now.
Ways to have me reject your friend request:
Have no picture of yourself up Have a nude picture of yourself as your main pic (sorry guys and gals, i've got younger cousins on here and I don't need them seeing your birthday suit on my friends page) Having no content at all Having so much content that you'd need a DSL connection from on high to manifest all of it If you're under 17yo If your profile is set to private If the only thing your 'about me' section is a survey If you have a link to a webcam page, which you 'encourage' me to check out If you have a link to a web page for .. photo albums which include nude pics of you Any combination of the above & Not reading at least this part of my profile and sending a request anyways :-)
P.S. with regards to the above, there's also something I'd like to call the IECAAAR (or Inverse Exponential Chance of Accepting An Add Request :-D I guess I could've just said 'Logorithmic'...but I didn't wanna geek out). Basically, the more friends I have, the more selective I become with whom I add, until the graph of "number of people added" over period of time practically levels off like the graph of a logorithm (which has a slope that approaches zero)...Also, here are some alternatives to Parents. The Anti-Drug (which just makes me laugh):
Psychedelics. The Anti-Drug Informed Parents. The Anti-Drug , or Truth. The Anti-Drugwar
