reading, drinking(whiskey/cranberry), cheese, exploring my new city by foot or bike, sculpting, art, picking up dead things, traveling, leaves that change colors in the fall, my cat -- Mr. Pants, bones and gears, comfortable silences, the smell of rain and the REAL smell of people-not fragrances...
Some rad RVA kids that I can get into trouble with. And people who don't end sentences with prepositions. Oh, and people who don't mind if I pick up dead things.
I've gotten into piano rock recently (thanks Mark) so first of all, here are a couple of good piano rockin bands: Pistolita (that we saw at the NORVA), Desert City Soundtrack, Jack's Mannequin, Murder by Death (not so much pianos as the cello, but great, nonetheless) And then, I like the indie rock. Jet By Day is nice...guitar driven rock is rad! The Postal Service and more fondly, Death Cab For Cutie. Little Compass is badass! Bloc Party is good...and the old standard Radiohead. Sparta. The classic Billie Holliday. Ben Folds, Ani Difranco, Glassjaw, Sigur Ros (from Iceland). I love Pretty Girls Make Graves and Rainer Maria. Coheed and Cambria and many others. Does this make me wussy? Well too bad, I'm a girl.
where to begin... Shaun of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead and the like, Garden State, Donnie Darko, Harry Potter, Fight Club, Snatch and Lock Stock, Falling Down, Boondock Saints, Office Space, American Beauty, a new friend recommended I watch Harold and Maude - so I did and I recommend everyone watch it. Now. Right now. And I forgot how good this movie really was but Edward Scissorhands, etc., etc.
Too many to name...
