"This is me. This is who I am. Take it or leave it. I hope you'll go for the former." I breathe and I write. Sometimes not even in that order. Writing is not an interest of mine, it's what I do, what I'm about. I don't know how not to write and it's a creative outlet I couldn't be without. Postcards, emails, marathon letters (oh, yeah YttePytte, you know all about those), novels, short stories, poetry - anything goes. Currently working on a book - and being annoyingly obsessed by it to boot, so I'll steer clear of going into that here.. Other than that I listen to music. A lot. It's like a backdrop to my life. Even when I'm writing I have a mental soundtrack playing at the back of my mind, which more often than not sets the mood for what will come out on paper. So, there you go..
What I believe in:
I believe in God, myself and kindness. In that order.
"There are loads of people I'd love to meet. Starting with you. Hello."
Pretty much every single one of the musicians I listen to and even more the authors of the books I've listed. Creative and artistic ability excites me. But I'm happy to meet most people, so go ahead and drop me a line or two.
RANDOM STUFF FROM THE "YOU HAD TO BE THERE"-ARCHIVE:
"She looks like a person who tans easily. We don't like people like that. They're generally good-looking. We HATE people like that!"
Carin and I very late at night at my old flat, looking at CD covers and making nasty comments on most anyone.
"There's always a little fat somewhere to comment on!"
Even later the same night.
"Och då hann jag tänka: Men varför har hon det? Hon skulle ju aldrig ha några barn."
Carin finds it hard to tell real people from fictive characters.. (Roughly translates as: "And my first thought was: But why? She wasn't going to have any children.")
"Men det vet du väl!? Hembränt luktar inte!"
Chris, Carin, Fia, *BROR* and I tricking Mansoor into believing we're downing spirits when we're actually having tap water.. ("Don't you know!? Moon-shine doesn't smell!")
"Autism betyder låg intelligens!"
Admittedly not very PC, but it was still fun in the moment. Should point out here that I have a niece who is autistic and who I love very very much, and I do realise that the above statement isn't actually true. ("Autism means low intelligence!")
WHAT FUNKY BANDS I HAVE DISCOVERED WHILE SPACE HOPPING:
THE PRISCILLAS
Can never have too many punky-sounding rock chicks..
SIMON JEWELL
Loving the acoustic guitary sound!
MADVIOLET
Didn't really discover this group while Space Hopping; they opened for Gretchen Peters, Matraca Berg and Suzy Bogguss. Regardless - they're GOOOOOOD!
"Some say it's too country, some say it's too rock'n'roll - but it's just good music if you can feel it in your soul".

Fried Green Tomatoes * Practical Magic * Whalerider * Fanny and Alexander * Stand By Me * Breakfast at Tiffany's * The Lion King * Out Of Africa * Gone With The Wind * Casablanca * Dead Poet's Society *
"I wish there were a knob on the TV to turn up the intelligence. There's a knob called "brightness," but that doesn't work."
CSI - The original. None of that NY / Miami rubbish * Twin Peaks - The owls are not what they seem. Cult classic. * Lost * Forensic Detectives * Ski Sunday * F1 * Anything based on ANY of Astrid Lindgren's characters - Can't grow up in Sweden and not love those shows * Anne of Green Gables * This Life - Wasn't that a great show? *
"A good book on your shelf is a friend that turns its back on you and remains a friend."
* THE RIVER KING, PRACTICAL MAGIC, TURTLE MOON, THE PROBABLE FUTURE.. Absolutely ANYTHING written by ALICE HOFFMAN has a special place in not only my bookshelf, but my heart. The woman is a genious, the way she paints stories with words, breathtaking!
* A THOUSAND ACRES - JANE SMILEY. Starts out in the simplest of way and just draws you in.
* WHILE I WAS GONE - SUE MILLER. Makes me wish I could have been around in the hippie days, and at the same time makes me happy that I wasn't.
* RUNNING WITH SCISSORS - AUGUSTEN BURROUGHS. Thought that was a pretty good one from last year.
* BRAVE NEW WORLD - ALDOUS HUXLEY. Just 'cause they make you read it in class, doesn't mean it's going to be boring.
* SMALL ISLAND - ANDREA LEVY. Wonderfully written and a pleasure to sink into. About moving from one culture to another.
* JAG SAKNAR DIG, JAG SAKNAR DIG - KINNA GIETH & PETER POHL. I miss you, I miss you. A wonderful book about loss. It almost manages to make sense of grief. Everyone should read it.
* LOVE STORY - ERICH SEGAL. One of the shortest and best books ever written about love. (Hated Ali McGraw in the film).
* ANNE OF GREEN GABLES - L M MONTGOMERY. Takes me right back to when I was a kid, hiding away in my room, escaping into my own little world.
* 1984 - GEORGE ORWELL. Frightening to think that most kids today don't even know where the Big Brother concept stems from.
* DAISY FAY AND THE MIRACLE MAN - FANNIE FLAGG. Makes me smile.
* THE CATCHER IN THE RYE - JD SALINGER. They say this is a book a lot of serial killers have on their shelf. Not sure what that tells you, but it's still a very good read.
* GOODNIGHT MISTER TOM - MICHELLE MAGORIAN. As a child I loved this book. Loved anything she wrote, in fact. I still do.
* A SOLITARY BLUE & HOMECOMING - Cynthia Voigt. These two books were my favourite way of escaping when times were rough. Enough said.
* MY AUNT IS A PILOT WHALE - ANNE PROVOOST.När grindvalar strandar. Made me realise I wasn't alone. Well-written book aimed at children about an incredibly difficult subject.
"The real hero is always a hero by mistake; he dreams of being an honest coward like everybody else."
Most people who work behind the scenes - songwriters, editors, producers. Truly gifted people who dare to say no to the limelight and do what they do for the passion rather than the glory.
