In 1995 the two friends Alexander Koning and Michel Becks start to organise parties. House music is just having it’s breakthrough in Holland and in their hometown Beverwijk there’s nothing much to do. Together with DJ’s Ozero and Vieux they become the residents in “ Het Vervolgâ€. The parties attract a lot of people, so they start to look for a bigger place.
That’s why Eye on the Future moves to Amsterdam a year later. Near the harbour, on a deserted industrial terrain, the two friends throw some illegal underground parties. Also at the Repetitiehuis they have some wild nights.
These parties become too busy also, so they move on to the next place: the Hemkade in Zaandam. Together with Fortress they start in 1997 the legendary Virtual Environment parties. Many foreign techno DJ have their Dutch debut on these wild nights, in a time where hardcore en mellow house are the standard in The Netherlands. DJ’s like Monika Kruse, Ben Sims, Adam Beyer, Joel Mull, Valentino Kanzyani,Thomas Chrome,Thomas Schumacher, Chris Liebing ect ect are just a number of dj’s who are first booked in Holland by Eye on the Future They rock the place every time together with 3500 partypeople.
In this year Eye on the Future also hosts two regular clubnights. In Amsterdam in Club Time, in the centre near Dam square. And in Haarlem they start a clubnight in one of Holland’s oldest clubs: Club Stalker.
The organisation is steadily growing, and also Club Mazzo in Amsterdam asks Alexander and Michel for a clubnight. Together with Bart Skils they start these events. The illegal parties haven’t stopped either, so the connection with the underground scene is continued. Eye on the Future is by then nominated by the audience for “best party organisation in Hollandâ€.
In 1999 the parties at the Hemkade continue, and more DJ’s are having their Dutch debut on these nights. Next to the clubnights at Stalker and Mazzo, (semi) illegal parties at abandoned churches and boats are being held.
In the year 2000 the organisation moves from Amsterdam to Haarlem. In this city Alexander has his own recordstore, near the central station. Next to the clubnights at Stalker, also the Patronaat becomes a party hangout for Eye on the Future. And in the new cultural hotspot, the monumental Lichtfabriek, the bigger parties are thrown.
In 2002 a new concept is developed: The Beginning. An oldskool party, held once a year at the Lichtfabriek, where the house hero’s of the past play their favourite tunes for those who have or haven’t been there when it all started. DJ’s like Remy, Dimitri and Marcello rock the crowd big time, and the event becomes an huge success. Cause in the 10 years they exist, Alexander and Michel have gathered a huge crowd of fans around the Eye on the Future organisation.
