I just got started in a new band. It started as a Blues project but has quickly taken a very cool right turn onto Rock-n-Roll Blvd. We’re not really sure where we’re headed or when we’ll get there, but it’s all about the journey. There’s Eric Powell on drums, Dan Ayo on Bass & Vocals, Myself on Guitar & Vocals, and some dude named Duke who plays Keyboards. We have been joined by Celeste Pellegrin as our lead singer. We are on a roll!!!
UPDATE!!! Duke has been positively identified as Duke Hebert thanks to Dan’s girlfriend, Lou. Oh damn... I don’t know her last name. Here we go again!!!
I also build & repair tube amps under the name CMG Amplification. I specialize in vintage Fender Products, but will take a look at anything you send my way.
I have been playing guitar off and on for 30 years. I was pretty much dormant from 1985 - 1997. Picked up the guitar again and started trying to mimic what I was hearing on an SRV CD. It was like getting a sip of water from a Fire Hose! So I had to stay in the realm of my natural abilities. It seems to be working for me as most of my friends who have bands are always gracious enough to have me sit in when I am around. That’s way cool! Met Corey Duplechin in 1998 and he coax’d me into playing at one of his Blues Jams and I have been hooked since. Since then I have been pretty fortunate to play with some of the finest talent that Houma and the surrounding area has to offer.
In 2001 Josh Garrett introduced me to Freddie Rodrigue & Ben Adams and the original iteration of Bottomline (now Josh Garrett & The Bottomline) was launched. That band has gone through several changes and is kicking some serious ass. More often than not, I have played with Josh & Co. Spent a lot of time at different Jam Nights trying to hone the skills.
Some of the other great musicians I have played with - Ben Adams, Freddie Rodrigue, Sam Lecompte, Jeremy (Boo) Billiot, Travis Lovell, The Bottom Line Horn Section, Westbank Mike, Mike Zito, Randy Ellis, Michael Bacon, Keith Blair, Dan Ayo, Bill Gilkey, Randy Lopez, Shane Pelcha, Tab Benoit (on drums), Ronnie Boudreaux, Brad & TJ Lewis, Chris Pizani-Dave Guidry-Lance Anselmi-Jerry Martin of the Dream Junkies, Ronnie Parfait-Charlie Gros-Jake DeHart of the Bad Behavior Band, Zac Cheramie, Gene Giles, Hacksaw, Jeff McCarty, Jerome Gros, Chris Eaton, Mark Crevanic, Mark Duet, Steve Juno, Dustin Small, Norm & Spencer from Time Peace, Nick Rhodes Jr, Jason Galbreath, Dennis Guidry, Gabriel Whats-his-name on Sax, Jimmy Carpenter, Six Strings Down including the Mighty Mike Burkhart, Billy Iuso and Brian Besse, Corey Robichaux... This list goes on & on. If I left you out, stick me the finger next time you see me and I’ll buy you a beer.
Lately I have been playing music with Bill & Dan and recording in my Project Studio, collaborating with Dan Ayo and Jason Leray for lyrical input. Dan wrote the lyrics to What A Mess, and if you know Dan, you understand. Jason’s ideas are cooking. I should have 8-10 songs, mixed originals & covers recorded. I’ll post them here.
Thanks for stopping in to listen. I welcome all feedback.
