About Me

I've been wandering in the music scene for a long time and my musical taste is very large. My musical roots go back to Alice Cooper, AC/DC, The Residents, Kraftwerk, Kiss and disco, and for over a decade David Bowie was the red thread in my record collection. Punk changed my life, then I got into the new-wave scene, wrote for a fanzine called "Mad in Belgium", organised concerts in the indie-circuit @ The Monty in Heist o/d Berg (some of the best were Neon Judgement, The Gun Club, Culture, an "On-U Sound" night with Mark Stewart & The Maffia and Adrian Sherwood, and Einstuerzende Neubauten) and I became manager for a Belgian band, The Arch. The Arch was a bit ahead of its time, mixing guitars and sampling. Belgium didn't really follow this evolution, but they were in indie hitparades all over the world and played mostly abroad. Recently a new single is out and they are on a double mix-CD compilation by The Bang Gang DJ's in Australia. After The Arch I did the management for Wovoka, a "live" spectacle feat. TB Frank (Neon Judgement) and Wim Danzig (ex-Arch, Lords of Acid and Praga Khan). Patrick Soks (now Km5 Ibiza) put them at a "Paradise Party" in Café d'Anvers in Antwerp but soon afterwards the group split. In the early nineties I discovered that the "dance" scene was more than one could see from a distance and I went to Madchester, Ibiza, Mayday and "The Love Parade" in Berlin. I organized parties in Eindhoven for a while, witnessed the birth of Fuse, the start of the drum'n bass- and other breaks scenes, the revival and further developement of electro, and tried to help young interesting DJ's to surface. As ever I'm still interested in new developements in music going from Ninja Tune, Warp and Mo-Wax to the German scene, dubstep and avant-garde, but I appreciate quality house and techno and a good party too.
