From a place drenched in obscurity and not known for a lot in music circles, has produced a rising Phenom both literally and figuratively. A new brand of MC has stepped forward to represent Texas the way it should, that's right I said MC because anyone can Rap, but it takes a special talent to be considered a MC. I present to you K.I.N.G.(Know I Need God) Barrlean from Henderson, Texas a small town in East Texas. Born Jason Barr, Barrlean was influenced at an early age by an assortment of music from every coast and genre, from Too Short, to 8Ball and MJG, to Outkast. Barrleans true inspiration came from the late DJ Screws undergorund gray tapes where local Houston artists freestlyed about everyday Texas lifestyle. Blessed wit a raspy voice and his ridiculous use of punch lines he quickly pulls you in with a sick delivery to his Southern drawl. He first gained notoriety as an original member of the Henderson rap group Da USC(Upstairs Click) from 1999 to 2005, then ventured on to a solo career and has not looked back since. In April 2007 Barrlean released his first solo effort in the form of a mix tape called Heaven 4 a Hustla hosted by DJ Troyboy. With a off the charts mixture of original tracks and a showcase of his lyrical prowess over today's hottest instrumentals he delivers again and again. On Heaven 4 a Hustla he bears his soul about past endeavors, present troubles and what the future holds. On the Kaoss Beats produced "Just a Warning" he displays his ability to speak on a controversial subject while killing it lyrically, and on the heart touching "RIP FD3" he gives a final farewell to his big brother, and best friend.
