STEFAN CHARISIUS is one of roughly eight "white" Kora-Musicians in Europe. The Kora is a Harp-like, ancient instrument with 21 strings, created in West-Afrika for the singing storytellers (Griots) to accompany their lyrics. Grown up in a family of musicians STEFAN developed many ways to forge his specific style of warm-melancholic yet profoundly rocking Kora music. STEFAN plays and improvises not only solo on stage but enjoys associating with a diversity of musicians and cultures. Because of the exciting and turbulent emotional amplitude in these concerts, STEFAN labelled the projects AFREAX (African-freak-spontaneus-music). Everything can happen on stage and everybody may possibly take part in the source and join the music-river as deep and headless as he/she likes to. Since 1999, various formations have played more than 400 times all over Europe.
