WE ALSO NEED MUSICIANS AND SINGERS for our weekly meetings!!!!!!!!!
More than just a typical church, Common Ground seeks to be radical and fresh in its approach to worship, life, and community.
We seek to effectively combine and blend the "sacred" with the "secular" both in our lives and in a fresh new approach to worship.
We want to create a "safe place" for people who have been hurt by religion, people who are searching, people who are questioning, people who may not even know what they are looking for.
We desire to create an environment of inclusion, creativity, and diversity that merges today's music, movies, videos, and technology with teaching and conversation relevant to our everyday lives - an atmosphere where we are free to question and explore our faith and experience God together.
Common Ground is affirming and open to any and everyone regardless of age, sexual orientation, gender, race, or social status.
We are founded on the revolutionary life and teachings of Jesus and the all-inclusive love and grace of God.
We are part of the "emerging church movement" that is seeking to make our faith and worship relevant to our everyday lives and more accessible to people who have had bad experiences with church or have decided to stay away from most organized religion.
We use contemporary and secular music (rock, pop, alternative, folk, etc.) - songs you might hear on popular radio stations - in addition to Christian music and hymns with new arrangements.
We also use scenes from popular tv shows (like the Sopranos or Heroes, etc)and movies (like Waterboy or the X-Men or the Last Temptation of Christ, etc.)to help illustrate topics of discussion.
Futhermore, we allow times for open discussion and questions about life, God, faith, heartache, hardships, etc.
We desire "to show all people the unconditional love and grace of Jesus without any reservations because of their lifestyle or religious background, past or future. This love has no agenda behind it (I Cor. 13:5). This grace sets no timeline on personal change or standards for spiritual growth (Romans 4:4-5). The idea is to be a part of people’s lives because we truly care for them rather than to fulfill a religious duty; to walk with them through all their struggles as a part of their life, not as a religious outsider." (quoted from the Revolution Church Atlanta's myspace page)
We are still in the very early stages of forming.
We are in desperate need of more musicians for our weekly meetings.
Our leaders are: Scott Fisher-Pastor/Facilitator; Tripp Hewell - Music Leader.
Tripp plays guitar and sings and is also in the band The Superficials
