all for the experience...

About Me

Why do you walk instead of drive? Why do you talk to the people you do? Why do you sing in the streets? Why do you travel the world? Why do you play music? For the Experiences. We live for the experiences. To see new things and meet new people. Each song is a different experience entirely. Each person, each day and every lesson learned. Every experience has it's own flavor, it's own genre, it's length, depth, meaning, GROOVE
The Experiences have been together going on five years and continue to grow and improve each day. Back in high school it was a five piece band called Auraik, with Kyle Dondonneau on bass, Josh Ranville on rhythm guitar, Ian Sorensen as lead guitarist, Jesse Millar on drums, and Brendan Sommerhalder as the lead singer. Time went on and the boys decided to make some changes. This is when it because a three piece lacking a singer and left Jesse Millar on Drums, Ian Sorensen as lead guitarist, and Josh Ranville on bass. At this point they had already played numerous gigs around the city, recorded an EP called “Walking Elsenore” at The Rock Shop, and played together for four years now. This is when they decided to make a new start and change their name to The Experiences, after all, it’s all for the experience, right? Through much searching, auditioning, and whining they finally stumbled upon Jennifer Bihun. They had an upcoming gig back in February that they wanted to play but they had no singer. Good friend and frequent of the jams at Josh’s house, Jenny offered to write the lyrics to the songs they had already, and perform them two weeks from that day, only as their temporary lead singer. Being a diehard fan, she’d been coming out to the jams for months and watching, so she knew the songs really well. What was temporary eventually turned into an incredibly strong, motivated, talented foursome. To date they have played a number of gigs around Winnipeg and surrounding areas, recorded an EP themselves called On Your Way Out, recorded at Studio 11 courtesy of Supernova Entertainment as first prize for there Band On The Run competition, have been chartered to write a song about The Forks for the 5th Annual River Heritage Conferance, and are currently playing at an innercity day camp for kids this summer. They continue to write, record, play, and network everyday in hopes of someday playing music for a living.
On Your Way Out: On You Way Out is a themed EP. It was written at the end of a period of all out lives that we will never forget. It's advice, it's warning, it's discovery, it's renewal. We did all the recording, producing, writing, EVERYTHING ourselves. We are really excited with the results after undergoing such a project and hope you enjoy!
