I'm not a fan of MySpace, or the outlet of shameless self-promotion it provides. It seems like we no longer live in the moment, but rather look to capture it in some way to later broadcast across MySpace in an attempt to prove to everyone we know that we were at some place of some degree of fame; that we do, in fact, have friends; or simply to display how 'cool' we are. Since various established societal norms make it seemingly impossible to achieve self-actualization, even for those who dare to live on the fringes of society, MySpace has become the outlet of choice for such needs, all the while exploiting the information we post to allow marketers to better understand our consumer patterns. Oh, the irony.
