SPARE CHANGE RECORDS
Over A Cardboard Sea - 2007 Tour EP. Self-Release. (200 copies) On a mission to kick it old school (circa 1910). vaudeville smash hits rescued from the wax cylinder and recorded by wingnuts in the future (who recorded it just shitty enough that it sort of sounds like it might have been recorded on a wax cylinder). DIGITIZED VERSIONS OF THE ORIGINAL WAX CLYINDER SONGS CAN BE FOUND AT: www.cylinders.library.ucsb.edu.
Jerk Off Jack Off Frig Face - Songs From An Outlaw Country Musical. 2005. Self-Release. (300 copies). Starring Too Bad Strembicki and Abby Banks. "This is so freakin’ good that I get drunk at least once a week and lose it in the CD player for a few hours. Write now and see if you can get a copy of this: it’s a freaking musical: one with songs like “One-Thousand Ghost McGee,†“Whiskey!,†“Tattoo for Breakfast,†and “The Man Who Shot Everyone in the Face.†It’s all acoustic with character-driven pieces. If it sounds like theater, then it’s because it is. I saw them on tour this summer, and if there was ever a rejected vaudeville show that played in the alleys or homes of the people who didn’t go in for the big time of the day, then this is it. I don’t know if they’ll tour ever again, and that’s okay. But if you listen to this and let the cartoons play out in your head, then you’ll be doing fine. It’s all right. It’s only make believe." –Razor Cake.
Jerk Off Jack Off Frig Face - Life Is A Cowboy Hat. 2003. (500 copies) The best top 40 country anthems of all time, written by an ex-puke fuckin' punk rocker from Potato Farming Town, Maine. Blurring the line between hyper-irony and sincere belief in the spirit of Texas. Brilliant enough to get room fulls of P.C. vegans across the country hootin' and hollerin' along to declarations that "we don't like anything at all unless it's a shotgun!"
Vomit Dichotomy - Big Handjob Blowjob Induced Bear. 2003. (40 copies) Spazz-core sound collage symphony in 5 parts. ....[Expert from interview with Myles Of Destruction] Hmmm.... Most memorable is definitely the show we played at Goddard college in Vermont. We dubbed that show "Vomit Fest" based on the 6 kids that were there and part of this truly awful band called "Vomit Dichotomy". They have this whole GG Allin schtick that they do and they claim to have never heard of him. So, when it was our turn to play, there was a room FULL of drunk people and the handful of kids all puking in a bucket and drinking it and whatever the hell they were doing and we're trying to set up our stuff... we keep looking at each other nervously. Myles is telling me that he's certain he's gonna get hit in the face with a bottle and I'm starting to believe him. Audrey is trying to find a way to play behind something to keep her violin safe..."
Or, for another take on the subject:
click here for an epinions article I found about the VD house. Since we don't play live anymore, you don't have to smell our live show, and you can "enjoy" this recording in the comfort of your own (barf-free) home!
The rest of the releases are available directly from me, and are not scheduled to be pressed again. I have VERY limited amounts of the following:
Sequoyah Leaf - Variations. 2006. self-released. (50 hand-packaged CDRs) New York sound artist and clarinetist S.L. recorded this album with members of Vomit Dichotomy. 1st in a series. $8
Warheads - Return! 2005. Spirit Of Orr Records. (100 copies) Members of Over A Cardboard Sea & Sunburned Hand Of The Man. Warheads is a noise duo whose members were both born on May 15 in Northern ME (in the upper right corner of these United States). That the two birthdays happened exactly 20 years apart, one in 1962, the other in 1982, may or may not have any relevance to the creation of these recordings. Perhaps they have as much relevance as any other coincidence. Regardless, there is no doubt that this effort is a blistering, harsh, multi-generational-yet common purposed, all out attack on the crippling effects of paternalism in our culture, and an attempt at changing the rules. Cover art by Ruth Garbus of the hippie clan: Feathers. Limited to 100 hand assembled CDRs. $8
