ExInferis': the beginningExInferis first saw the day in 'hell' - Luxembourg in late 1999, being risen from the ashes of a previous band, of which only three members were left. These three original members were David on drums, Kevin on guitar, Angelo on second guitar.
The first appearances of ExInferis did not stay unnoticed and soon the band got great reviews for their energetic shows and brutal music, mixing elements of death-metal, black-metal and the catchy hardcore parts. But there was still one major element missing: the bass-player. ExInferis did play their first shows with no bass-player, but this gap was to be filled by Marc, initially guitarist in another local band.
The line-up was now complete and the ExInferis frontlines consisted now of Stefano on vocals, Angelo on guitar and vocals, Kevin on guitar, Marc on bass and David on drums and vocals.
ExInferis was now ready to take on the rest of the world...
'The millennium looks bright'
In early 2000, ExInferis released their first MCD entitled 'Everything is burning... so doth your soul'. This first release put the band in the spotlight in the local scene and got the band good exposure in Belgium, France and the UK. In April the band went over to the UK for a short tour and had the opportunity to play along the sides of bands like Canvas, Mend this Tear and Cameran to name but a few. In Belgium ExInferis played many shows in Brussels and throughout all of Belgium, the highlight being the appearance at the GoodLife New Years' Eve Fest in Kortrijk.
2001 was the year of the release of the split-cd with Ganesha called 'ExInferis analyzing Ganesha' . Following the UK-tour of 2000, the band had been approached by Skipworth Records to re-release the 'Everything is burning' MCD. ExInferis however preferred to put out new songs, having already evolved in their songwriting. This split-cd was released in June 2001, after a second tour to the UK in April 2001, where the band got to play the famous Camden-Underworld to close off the tour.
Shortly after the release of this split-cd, ExInferis was contacted by the US-Label Battlescarred Records, based in California. The band had traded some cds with this label and they immediately showed interest in ExInferis. A 4-way split featuring US-bands Hostility, Existence and Sworn Vengeance was planned and ExInferis was to be part of this too. The band was back in the studio in November 2001 to record the three tracks to be featured on the '4-Way Deathmatch'. The cd was released in June 2002. This got the band exposure in the US and showed a new musical side of the band, having made huge steps in the songwriting over the past months and being more brutal and aggressive than ever.
ExInferis continued to play all the shows possible all over Europe and in Luxembourg with the likes of Heaven Shall Burn, Reprisal, Dead Blue Sky, Darkest Hour, Skarhead, From the Dying Sky and many more.
'2003 - Seasons in the abyss'
2003 was to be a black year for ExInferis. The band was indeed without a rehearsal-place for a few months already, when they parted ways with longtime singer Stefano for different reasons. A long search for a new frontman began. However ExInferis did not pause a bit and continued to write new material after having found a new place to rehearse and played shows as a four-piece, David and Angelo taking over the vocal parts.
In December 2003 the band finally found the perfect frontman in Fabrice, who had helped us out on vocals for a few shows.
'2004... Like a phoenix risen from the ashes'
2004 is looking to be a bright year for the band, as new frontman Fab has brought new energy and symbiosis to the band. The reactions to the new line-up have been more than great and the band feels more complete than ever. The new songs once more witness the steps forward taken by ExInferis and how each band-member has evolved as a musician and as a person.
