Terry’s Words On Legend Eddie Van Halen

If you’re a guitarist, or if you just love to hear the sound of someone that plays the guitar like nobody else then the name Eddie Van Halen has to come up. Eddie’s contribution to Rock Music and guitarists all over the world is legendary. And to most guitarists professional and novice alike he is the one we all look to and try to aspire to become. There is just no way to describe his style of playing. His style belongs to him an only him. Eddie is the only guitarist that I have ever known that can take any guitar, no matter if it’s a $10,000 custom or some knock off piece of junk with the strings a quarter of an inch off the fret-board and still sound incredible. Hell the man even built from scratch his own guitar because at that time (late 70’s early 80’s) there was no guitar out there that would let him play the way wanted to play. He named the guitar “Frankenstein” Click here to see an exclusive interview from Guitar World with Eddie about the Frankenstein guitar. He invented his own locking tremolo long before the ones we see standard on guitars today. And the guitar solo “Eruption” is a testament to just how great he really is. The recording of "Eruption" happened spontaneously... it wasn't even supposed to be a track on the album. Eddie Valen Halen was warming up at the recording studio early one day, when producer Ted Templeman overheard the guitarist. Templeman loved what he heard, and demanded that they record the solo. Eddie quickly recorded one take of "Eruption", and they ended up putting it on the album. Says Eddie: "I didn't even play it right. There's a mistake at the top end of it. To this day, whenever I hear it I always think, "Man, I could've played it better." © I wish I played well enough to be able to say that about myself. And to top off an incredible career Van Halen has now been inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Every guitarist has opinions on what some of the greatest recorded guitar solos are. While there are many that are commonly regarded as "great", there are lots of others that don't get as much attention. Not too long ago, the editors of Guitar World magazine put together a reader's poll, to find out what their readers considered to be the best guitar solos of all time. © Eddie is listed as number 2 out of 100 for Eruption. The sound of his guitar says the rest. The song you are hearing now is from the OU812 Album its called “Cabo Wabo” A lot of you may not know this song, and I am not going to debate over if the band Van Halen was better with David Lee Roth or Sammy Hagar. I like this tune because of the really great mixture of blues and rock guitar playing of Eddie.

My Interests

and the guitarist playing. I listen for the guitars, and who it is playing. I can play, and play well when need be. But I have never had the gift. And that is what I listen for; if you have ever tried to play you know it when you hear it. Restore great cars this is one of my greatest passions, Fishing, Bowling, Minor repair and upgrading computers.

I'd like to meet:

I am a single average to a little above average man. I am an even 6' tall around 160 pounds. Brown hair, brown eyes. But I seem to have a real problem finding a woman that is looking for another man while still in a relationship with me. I am really not looking for a woman right now. And to say why would take up most of this page. But if I were, she would have to be some one who is honest and open, that likes new ideas. And still likes some tried and true ideas. I am not looking for the perfect person. I myself am far from perfect. I am at a stage in my life where I really want to have a very good time and if things work out, great. But if not then that can be okay too. By now I have learned that I really would rather not just dive all into a relationship. But take some time have a lot of fun and see how things progress. By the way please do not judge me totally based on the picture I have posted here. It was the only one I had on file in the computer at the time. I included the picture of my car because it has been a work in progress, and I am very proud of how well it is turning out. I like for people to see you can have a really great car and not have to spend thousands and thousands of dollars.I decided about a month ago to finally after many years to go into music full time. At least until the money runs out and I have to take a job working for someone else. My hope is to just be able to earn a normal living with my playing. I have no dreams of becoming the next Van Halen. I have gotten too old to worry about that. I would like to just be able to play at some local clubs and functions, and also begin teaching a small group of students the wonderful art of playing guitar. Maybe they will not make the mistakes that I have and can go on to become one of the greats. I am not the best guitarist around but I can hold my own. I am working on getting permission to do a few songs where I actually sing a little and move to a MySpace Music page. Recording costs are a bit high, but I have some friends working on some basic recording time for me when the equipment is not being used. Music is one of the most important things in my life. There are some things that are more important but we will save that for another time. (They know who they are). If you have read all of this then do me a favor, don’t make my mistake. Follow your dream, follow it until it is over or comes true. I waited far too long to chase after my dreams, a mistake I remember every day and wish I could change. If any of this interests you feel free to send me an email. :)
More About CountryBoy

Before I start this I just wanted to let you know there is a reason that some of the words in this section are in bold. :) This may sound kind of stupid. But I have had enough problems in relationships to finally know what matters to me the most. A woman that does not have to stretch the truth to have fun or enjoy life. I have been in relationships where things seem great for a while, even a several years. But because of that tiny little bit of dishonesty everything falls apart and you find that you are not only hurt by the experience, but also once the hurt wears off (Let me word that another way, once you get past the hurt. Because if you are really in love the hurt will never go away) you find that you have wasted all that time and now you probably don't even speak to that person anymore. You all have my hope that it does not turn out that way, we can all change if we let ourselves. The real truth of the matter is I am not looking for another woman. Besides the only woman that I would really even consider is not within my reach. And no I AM NOT gay. It's just some of the things that I have had deal with in these latest years of my life I do not believe a person can get over. But if I were to tell a person what to look for in a woman it would be that she is totally honest and is secure with who she is. Some one who is willing to take all the skeletons in the closet (and we all have them) and throw them away. Some one who knows it's time for a new beginning. But at the same time not afraid to take chances, have fun, learn new things, and explore new options and not be afraid to do it. I reached a point in my life about 2 years ago and it opened my eyes to many things. And one of the most important things that I realized is Do Not Waste Time. I have wasted so much time in my life for reasons that no longer exists. I plan now to use time each day to do something that will last and be meaningful. Don't misunderstand I am not looking to or ready to dive right into a life long relationship. I fully intend to have some fun, and if it all works out then great. It's not a perfect world guys, but it is the only one that we have, and once that time is over you do not get to try again. So the best thing for all of us to do is try, and believe with all of out hearts while we are here and still have time to get it right. Because when that time is up it's just up. There is a song by "Garth Brooks" that I tell every one that has ever ask me about a problem with another person to listen to. If you really listen to what he is saying, you will find a way to solve that problem. The song is called "The Dance". If you have never heard it, listen to it one day it may very well change a part of your life too. I am going to shut up now, or I will be typing all night.

Guys here are a few links that are of great use to me, and could be of use to you as well. Click on any of the banners and it will take you to the homepage of that company.

Music:

Southern Rock, Rock, Metal, Country, Some of the old and some of the new stuff. I am from one extreme to the other when it comes to music. For some reason I have never really developed a taste for Rap, I'm not really sure why, but my best guess is that I enjoy music that I need a guitar in my hands to be able to play. Without a guitar, to me I'ts just not music.

Movies:

I like too many different movies and movie types to name a single favorite. Everything from science fiction to romantic comedy. (Kind of a strange combination don't ya think).

Television:

Television is so screwed up now I really do not know what I like. One show I do enjoy watching is the series "The Shield". I watch that show just to see what that guy "Vic" is going to do next.

Books:

Anything about music, whats new, Guitar tabs, Lyrics. You can learn a great deal about playing the guitar just by reading about the different styles of playing from one guitarist to another.

Heroes:

This will sound silly but it has to be my Mother. I have watched her go through so much hell in her life, and yet she still stands strong, And no matter how bad I have screwed up in my life(and there are some big one's)she is always here for me no matter what. Now thats what I see as a Heroe.
