Know the rules well, so you can break them more effectively.

About Me

The Good things in Life, according to me (a partial list, in no particular order):Sleeping in ‘till noon. Wilderness camping. A good, home-cooked meal. Dancing 'till dawn. Single-malt scotch. A play (or film) that transports you. Laughing until you can’t breathe. The poetry of e e Cummings, Pablo Neruda, and Shakespeare. The mighty wielding of a good semi-colon. Kisses with just the right amount of tongue. A sweet bassline. The smell of a woman’s neck. Snowball fights. Riding waves. Driving through the mountains. Skinny dipping. Holding hands. Hiking. Family. Friends. A pun that hurts. Massages that make you drool. Kindness to strangers. Herbal tea. One-on-one conversation. Silliness. Adventure. Traveling. The ocean. Doing something that scares you. Exploring. Cuddling. Dark chocolate. Bowling. Little brothers, best friends, and love, love, love.Oh, and in an effort to ward off floozies with webcams, as you can see, I am now a 72-year-old, married woman, and a proud parent. Let's see if that works.

My Interests

Adventure, Theatre, Writing, Backpacking, Surfing, Camping, Swimming, Guitar, Hiking, Chilling, Cuddling, Cooking, Eating, Snogging, Trapeze, learning Tai Chi and meditation, Amateur Anthropology/Sociology, good conversation, Regime Change, and Snow-Tubing in Prospect Park with a thermos full of boozy hot cider or cocoa (I can't wait!)

I'd like to meet:

Super-cool people. Surprise me with your amazingness and your joie de vivre.NOTE: I NEVER (ever) say yes to "Friend Requests" if I don't know you. Seriously. I don't care if you are a being composed entirely of breasts and butt-cheeks, or how amazing your band is. Send me a message if you want to be friends. Y'know, talk to me. It's like life: If you want me to sign your yearbook, you've gotta at least say "Hello" first. Then I'll scrawl something memorable, like, B.F.F., K.I.T., Have a great Summer, or (my personal fave) Stay Sweet!

Music:

Beatles, The Roots, Bob Dylan, Weezer, Jimi H, Janis J, Digital Underground, Elliot Smith, Ben Harper('s older stuff), Randy Newman, Snoop, The Postal Service, Tom Waits, Black Star (Mos Def and Talib Kweli), Deltron 3030, Badly Drawn Boy, , Kanye, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Led Zep, Mozart, Bach, Scottish folk, Joni Mitchell, Michael Bolton (just kidding)

Movies:

The Impostors, Royal Tenenbaums, The Hustler, When Harry Met Sally (though I'm pretty sure I'm not supposed to admit that in a public forum), Pulp Fiction, Citizen Kane, Spaceballs, Little Miss Sunshine, Young Frankenstein, Apocalypse Now!, Brazil, Strictly Ballroom, Deconstructing Harry, Sweet and Lowdown, Annie Hall, Princess Bride (and anything else with Christopher Guest), Riding Giants, surf flicks, Delicatessen, Say Anything, Pride and Prejudice (the old one, not the new one), Literally all Coen Brothers movies (except Intolerable Cruelty, which they were contractually obligated to do and doesn't count), Office Space, basically all Gilliam Flicks, Casablanca, High-Fidelity, Streetcar Named Desire, The Shining, Truly Madly Deeply, Fightclub, Wet Hot American Summer, Sense and Sensibility, Ghostbusters, the list goes on and on (but it's got more comedy on it than anything else)

Television:

I don't really watch television but if I did I'd watch The Daily Show w/ John Stewart & The Colbert Report, the Simpsons, Conan. Maybe The Family Guy. Bill Maher. Definitely Chappelle's Show (but not "the Lost Episodes"; pretend that didn't happen), the BBC (why is it we have to watch news from other countries to find out what's really going on in our own?), IFC, and the Discovery Channel... constantly.

Books:

Siddhartha, Catcher in the Rye, Year of the King, Stupid White Men, Dark Tower series, The Alchemist, Lamb, Hero of a Thousand Faces, Waiting for Godot, poetry poetry poetry (especially Neruda, Shakespeare, and Cummings, but also Bukowski and those devils), On the Road, zillions of plays and books on theatre. Currently reading: The Elegant Universe, by Brian Greene (it's fascinating, utterly baffling to me, and really enjoyable).

Heroes:

Bill Hicks, Jeff Clark, Steve Irwin, Annnnnndddd...This week's HERO OF THE WEEK (pause my profile song first): Patricia Van Neil: Explicit Music Lyricist

The way it is

I haven't said anything in a while, so I will tonight. The world is a confusing place.  In fact, it's a spinning ball.  Is it any wonder we get lost sometimes? I started to write something...

Thoughts on the Subway, Monday Morning 7:40am

Sometimes we get stuff in our eyes.  Sometimes oysters get stuff in their shells.  When they get stuff in their shells, they may develop something pleasant called a "pearl".  Whe...
