About Me

Coming from a hip hop background from back in the day - listening to the likes of Dre, 2pac, NWA, Bone Thugs & Harmony etc, Jazza got his first taste of Drum & Bass when a highschool friend in ’96 made him listen to a Dj Ratty Mixtape.
He was in awe with the beats, the Mc’ing and the whole vibe of the music. He found himself sneaking into the likes of Gravity - albeit only going a few times as he was underage at the time, and later frequenting the famous Drum Club on Mountain Terrace. Showing up there without fail almost every Friday - then hitting off to an event on the Saturday - influenced by the likes of Loaded Dice and MFI.
Attending almost every event from 1999 onwards (local & international gigs) - the passion for the music kept growing, but he had never thought of getting decks…
Around 2003 he started playing around with Cubase and learnt off friends what they had learnt in regards to Drum & Bass production. Having tried to create a few tracks – but only just getting frustrated, Jazza stayed away from production for a few years – but is now just starting to re-attempt it again.
In 2005/2006 he began experimenting with Traktor DJ Studio on the PC and made a few mixes on there. The fundamentals were all learnt there and he decided to purchase his 1st pair of turntables in September 2006. He made his first recording off the decks in 2 weeks of having them – continually striving for better form.
Around November/December 2006, he decided that he wanted to try something a little different instead of just mixing Drum & Bass. Learning and watching everything that he possibly could, influenced highly by DJ Q Bert - and with his own kind of style – tends to scratch over Drum & Bass. Not limited to just that - he enjoys scratching over Hip Hop and Breaks as well, adapting new techniques and always continually striving for something different.
A nominee for "Best New Talent" at the 2007 Perth Dance Music Awards, Jazza has played at events and venue’s all around Perth - including The Nine at Bar Open, Roller at the Rosemount Hotel, Forces of Nature at The Velvet Lounge, Reload at The Maxx and the newly formed weekly night Mekka at Bar Open.
