ARCHIGRAM is a duo composed of Julien & Nicolas, two parisian natives who discovered Detroit techno in the early 90's... However, their own tastes weren't always the same: while Nicolas learned playing the guitar by listening to his Rockn'roll heroes, Julien toured in parisian clubs as a DJ.
After they met, they started producing music, developing a dark & rock house music style which is quite unique, where angry guitars are mixed with cold keyboards, but with a clubby feeling.
Their career began on CRYDAMOURE music label with a first 12" released in 2001, "Mad Joe"/"In Flight".
The 1st track is hypnotic and captivating whereas the second one is more funky in its "Raw Mix" version. One year later, "Carnaval" is released and we already feel that their sound is darker. This feeling is confirmed by the very dark "Doggystyle", which is a cover of "I Wanna Be Your Dog" from The Stooges.
While their 12" have a pretty good success in the UK. ARCHIGRAM came back on KITSUNE in 2004, they released "Padre". Opening new points of view to house music. "Padre" has got this obstinating harpsichord, which could be from a party at the time of Louis XIV, the classical binary house structure is replaced by a more interesting ternary one, which breaks with the rules that were already established.
After doing a few remixes for Madonna or Ladytron, they are about to release a couple of new productions in 2007.
