Late night neon jazz with jungle jive rhythms, strange melodies, solid gone swing and a cool dark twist!
The Violet Jive have two sides; one being a platform for the original songs and compositions of Singer/Guitarist Steve Spall. The sound is jazzy without being quaint... strong songs, plenty of hooks, colourful lyrics, sprinklings of sublime jazz guitar, dark riffs and weird chords a plenty!, topped off with the frontmans distinct breathy vocals.
(Reputedly seen to send even the most ferocious jungle goddess into pleasurable meltdown. And also described by a fellow musicians mother as "Audio Sex".).
Hmm hmn. The other side is a quartet playing a truly unique covers set including swingin' interpretations of songs from both contemporary and alternative music scenes, (Hendrix, The Police, Soundgarden, Monster Magnet,) movie theme tunes (Pulp Fiction, The Jungle Book, Bullit..) and classic jazz standards... always with an undeniabley cool dark twist, appealing to a wider variety of hepcats and music lovers!
A five track originals E.P is currently available and full album planned for end of May 08.
