Sounds Like: Born in 1966 in the city of Salerno, at age 15 Italo embraces the study of the classical guitar with M° Antonio Pantaleo and later with M° Claudio De Angelis (who in turn studied with Segovia and Pujol) in Rome, where he alternates his Conservatory exams with attendance to the mastercalssses with the greats of the time (Oscar Ghiglia, Alirio Diaz, Cosats Costiolis, Ruggero Chiesa, Serranito, etc.).
At age 23, fascinated by his discovery of the acoustic guitar world, he meets Pietro Nobile which introduces him to the fingerstyle type of playing. Italo then joins the ADGPA (Atkins-Dadì Guitar Player Association) becoming one of its first italian delegates and meeting international artists as Paolo Giordano, Marcel Dadì, Walter Lupi, Riccardo Zappa, Maurizio Colonna, Alex De Grassi, Jaques Stotzen, Ed Gehrard and Tommy Emmanuel, musicians which will influence his style of playing in the following years.
His great passion for the acoustic guitar leads him to find a job by Wilder Davoli in Parma, a leader in the distribution market of acoustic amplification systems. The kind of work contributes to Italo's knowledge of all things acoustic: from the instrument itself to every aspect of customization and amplification. He then partecipates in many national and international trade shows (Los Angeles NAMM and Frankfurt Musikmesse among the others) becoming a reference point among acoustic guitar aficionados.
Following the many demonstration and workshops in music shops and schools in Italy (often together with artists like Bob Brozman and Ed Gehrard) and he starts exploring the application of new technologies to acoustic instruments. The distribution deal with RMC exaphonic systems leads him to a long collaboration with Roland Italy and Italo becomes the national expert on MIDI applied to acoustic instruments, which eventually led him to design the MIDI@ acoustic & classical guitars: a perfect blend of traditional instruments and cutting edge technology.
In the following years, and with the support of Wilder Davoli along with that of his brother Antonio Iovane, Italo starts the Elettroacustico.it project, an innovative web platform for information and services that was completely new and very unusual in the "lazy" italian distribution market. Elettroacustico.it will become an important reference point for thousands of guitar players, not just online but also "on the road", during many events, workshops, clinics and shows where Italo and his staff of experts - Fabio Restano (of Angel Depart fame), Davide Drogo and Andrea Dardari, many luthiers and journalists.
After dismissing the elettroacustico.it project Italo created guitarcook.com, a web portal centered on acoustic guitars, rig and cooking - a new and original way to spread information amond the many guitar players in Italy.
His professional path and the many collaborations with market leaders like Master Music, and currently with Proel S.p.a. where he accepts to lead and develop the concept of the new De Salvo division (specializing in accessories, instruments and distribution), bring us to the present.
Along with a product portfolio including brands like Takamine, Genz Benz, RMC, Schertler, Shadow, Valencia, Florencia and Sx for Proel S.p.a., and the constant partecipation in all the major national and international trade shows, Italo decided to show more of his guitar passion as a player, which grew alongside the many professional experiences in his life and resulted in many compositions often performed live.
His new website www.italoiovane.com will be the place to listen to Italo's musical alchemy and get in touch with the colors and his artistic research: online for everybody music and thoughts of a life that's oriented to the guitar, at 360°.
