In a short amount of time she has gone from girl next door to sultry songstress! You may have seen lead singer and songwriter Amani in the latest Jim Beam TVC as "The Girlfriend" but you haven't seen the last of her yet....
I was born and raised in Maroubra, now made infamous by my dear friend and neighbour's movie BRA BOYS. As a teen I always knew I wanted to pursue music. At school I studied vocals, guitar, saxophone and piano to which I also composed my own music and wrote my own songs. Every lunch break I used to jam with my band in the music room! I also attended a ballet and dancing school and played netball, soccer and basketball, and on the weekends I skated with my friends at the beach. (I was a MAJOR tom boy and have the scars to prove it!)
When I left school I knew I was destined for a career in music but my strict upbrining meant I had to put that on the back burner and study fashion because, my mother is a fashion designer which meant I HAD TO be a fashion designer! While studying I still managed to keep writing and against my parents wishes, I started modelling. I entered a few bikini comps. I usually came either second or third but never won. Though they did help build my confidence.
After I finished my fashion degree I decided it was not for me so i bought a trendy cafe in the city. ( Don't ask how one ties in with the other!) I decided that was not for me either. In a few years, after I increased revenue by 30%, I sold it, and actually made a profit!
After landing a job as a make-up artist/booker for one of the biggest modelling agencies in Sydney, I was cast for a major Alcohol brand and actually got the job over hundreds of others! At the same time I met with an amazing and talented producer who I am in collaboration with in producing my music and in the not to distant future, perform and have an album.
The two other girls, Alex and Krystal, who I auditioned to be part of the group, are amazing as they are beautiful. Alex is a model and choreographer who has been studying dance since she was 5 years old and is as determined and passionate as me to be successful. Krystal, the youngest of the group, has been studying singing and acting since she was a teen and is our comedian! Her personality shines and her voice is as angelic as her looks.
I'm not exactly sure where this journey will take us but I know it's going to be a fun ride! What I DO know is entertainment of any kind is always, and always WILL be a part of who i am along with creativity, friends and positive energy. So stay tuned as my journey continues.
