Afro Snatchers started off as a quartet playing covers in a cupboard provided by their school under the guise of a "rehearsal room". However they soon realised that playing covers was boring and began to style their own brand of rock-funk with their first few songs, which were originally named after the colour of the font they were printed in.
The formerly named red song (now fictional freedom) was the first attempt at a song but now Afro Snatchers have a catalogue songs with more being added, changed and remodelled on a regular basis. Song creation was put on hold though, when a lot of emphasis was put on the bands first recording that included 6 songs. Their first EP was recorded at purple square studios, a free recording studio in Southampton, and they were pleased with the results as it gave them a chance to assess their music.
Practising their strange mix of rock-funk has moved from the cupboard to Rob's house whose family is very understanding (especially when wearing industrial ear defenders). Unfortunately the band's second bassist, Kyle, left the band shortly after the EP was created and now afroSnatchers decided to stick with a 3 piece set up, with the two guitarists/vocalists sharing the guitar and bass parts between them.
Afrosnatchers are at present recording some tunes in Rob's home recording studio. Songs are slowly being released into the public domain, inc the ones above. They are also gigging as regularly as their time allows. The future's bright, the future's afro coloured. This profile was edited while i was whaling in the icy waters of south korea Cursor by www.Soup-Faerie.Com
