About Me

Dan Taylor is the co-founder and editor of EXPLOITATION RETROSPECT: The Journal of Junk Culture and Fringe Media. Originally started as a drive-in movie review newsletter in the summer of 1986, ER is now available on the web . Features include reviews of new and classic horror, gore, Eurotrash and exploitation films, interviews, and an ever-expanding Guide to Klaus Kinski.

My Interests

Horror, action and suspense films, particularly American and European Trash Cinema including gore films, giallos, krimis, slasher flicks, and zombie cinema.

I'd like to meet:

Famous Folks: Klaus Kinski (though that might be tough these days), Jess Franco, Werner Herzog, and Paul Naschy.
Looking for folks who love horror, suspense, gore and low-budget action films (even some big budget ones, too).

Music:

Particularly fond of The Replacements, Hoodoo Gurus, Ramones, Dictators, Fleshtones, Butch Walker, and Frank Zappa.

Movies:

Too many to list but some of my favorites include RE-ANIMATOR, HUNCHBACK OF THE MORGUE, THE GREAT SILENCE, HORROR RISES FROM THE TOMB, NOSFERATU: PHANTOM DER NACHT, THE BEYOND, ZOMBIE, DAWN OF THE DEAD, DAY OF THE DEAD, and TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE.

Television:

The Simpsons, Smallville, Heroes, Prison Break, 24, The Office, and 30 Rock. Plus lots and lots of Food Network, but you'll have to visit The Hungover Gourmet for more on that.

Books:

I don't read as much as I used to but I dig Hunter S. Thompson, the Ian Fleming Bond novels, and Malcolm Gladwell's stuff.

Heroes:

Klaus Kinski, John Waters, George Romero, Stuart Gordon.
