TRUTH-LOVE-AMBITION-STRENGTH..mind first, body second.. I'm not necessarily what you expect from a violin player... I LOVE MY VIOLIN, I LOVE TO DANCE..most of all I LOVE MUSIC. I've been playing since I was 3...stopped at 16 and had a few strange years, and then came back. In between I tried EVERYTHING- but I don't regret any of it, and now there is nothing I'd rather do!Sophie Serafino is a violinist, and also a singer and songwriter, with a unique blend of pop music. Her style evolved after years of experimentation with many musical genres, has been described as entirely unique. Sophie mixes world music and impressionistic sounds with funk, dance and classically inspired strings.
A student of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, she also performs classically on occasion. Sophie has performed in Sydney and Melbourne selling out some of the best venues around including the Vanguard and the Metro in Sydney, and participated in Australian Music Week twice (‘03 + ’04) performing at the Esplanade Hotel and The Pony Club. Internationally, Sophie has travelled with corporate acts & her own original act to London, Japan, Amsterdam, Paris & Los Angeles and with the Australian trio ‘String Angels’ to Thailand.
Sophie has studied dance for 14 years, singing for 10 years, and has sung in bands since she was 16. She has had leading roles in stage productions including ‘Velma’ in the stage play Chicago at the Zenith Theatre in Chatswood Sydney, and ‘The Science Officer’ in ‘Return to the Forbidden Planet’, THE Theatre Company Sydney. Sophie studied acting including 3 NIDA Summer Schools, and ATYP for two years and Television Presenting, amongst other workshops. Sophie also has experience in film and television, aside from her own film clips for her original music, she was spokesperson for the 2003 Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation which aired on Channels 7, 9, 10 & SBS nationally. She has also worked on major films as a stand-in and appeared in various short films.
Sophie has played the violin from the age of 3 and has placed in competitions for violin performance and composition more than twenty times before the age of 16, including the City of Sydney Performing Arts Challenge. Since her first solo performance of her own compositions at the Hard Rock Café Sydney in 1999, her solo violin act has been described as “cutting edge virtuoso- pop violinist: a sophisticated performerâ€. Performing her own arrangements of the classics and her own original compositions, with her band and as a roving performer with DJs, there is nothing out there that looks, sounds and moves like Sophie. She has used her variety of skills to create her own unique show- Sophie Serafino, pop violinist.
Her solo act has taken her to high profile events from Sydney charity events to corporate launches including the Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation at the Stamford Plaza Hotel Double Bay 2003, Make A Wish Foundation Dinner Double Bay 2003, and The Georg Jensen Master Diamond Collection Launch Melbourne 2005. Most recently, Sophie has performed in London, Amsterdam, Paris & Los Angeles. Elle utilise la palette de ses dons pour créer un spectacle unique :" Sophie Serafino, Violoniste Pop".Son spectacle solo l'a mené aux plus grands évènements, des galas de charité aux concerts privés, comme la Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation au Stamford Plaza Hotel Double Bay 2003, Make A Wish Foundation Dinner Double Bay 2003, et le George Jensen Master Diamond Collection Launch Melbourne 2005.
