The JNGQ

About Me

The JNGQ is a highly skilled chamber ensemble that is dedicated to playing original compositions by composer Jason Nett, as well as transcriptions of other music not previously performed by other guitar ensembles. Jason Nett is a much sought after composer, producer, and performer. His works have been commissioned and performed by such ensembles as the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the Vancouver Island Symphony, The BC Boy's Choir, the Pacific Spirit Choir, the Vancouer Guitar Quartet, and the Aventa Ensemble. Nett also spends his time producing artists for a record label in San Francisco, as well as working with artists in Vancouver. He has toured as a performer throughout Europe, the States, Canada, and Mexico. Jason is currently the "Composer in Residence" for the Vancouver Island Symphony Orchestra. Michael Savona is an active performer in the Vancouver area, playing with the JNGQ, the Allegra Trio, and giving duet and solo recitals. Michael has recieved his masters degree in guitar performance from the University of Ottawa, and has since gone on to win many scholarships and awards as well as becoming a guest artist for festivals across Canada. Mr. Savona is and external adjudicator for the University of British Columbia, and teaches privately in the Vancouver area. Lee Ross's versatility is an asset to the JNGQ. Ross is just as confortable with playing an electric guitar, as he is playing nylon string. Lee is a graduate of the guitar performance program at the University of British Columbia, and has studied under the likes of Don Hlus, and Michael Strutt. Ryan Enns, a musician from Whitehorse, came to Vancouver in 2001 to study music at the University of British Columbia where he received his performance degree. Enns has established himself as one of Vancouver's most dynamic performers, and has been featured on CBC. A seasoned tour veteran, Ryan has been through Europe twice, performing in a variety of styles ranging from classical to South American and Eastern European gypsy music.
