Charles Tuason, aka DJ Krazie Charlez, residing in Queens, New York, has been a hip-hop DJ for over 16 years. Not only is he an aspiring DJ, he is also an up and coming producer.
His love for hip-hop began with inspirations from local DJs like Intro Bass Productions featuring Queens legend Roli Rho, Hit Squad, Treble & Bass and 8-Ball Productions. Through the influences of these local DJs, Charlez was inspired to start his own local DJ group called All Mixed Up (AMU) Productions. With fellow DJ's, RobNonStop J-Swift and CL Slick by his side, AMU introduced a new breed of DJ's in the Filipino party scenes. After a few parties, AMU was already considered one of the best mobile Filipino DJ crews in Queens. AMU also began to promote several different venues such as the Village Gate, Demara's and Irving Plaza to name a few.
Charles' love for hip-hop music continued throughout the years via the "Disco Mixing Club", DMC for short, a DJ battle company that holds annual DJ competitions not only with the U.S.,but also worldwide. Here, he interned for two years and was then promoted to Events Coordinator. Through the years at DMC, he learned the art of "turntablism", where the turntable becomes a musical instrument. Understanding this art established many different opportunities for Charles, he was able to create several different mix tapes and CDs including hip-hop & R&B, as well as slow-jam remixes.
Not only did he excel as a DJ but also his devotion to producing music commenced. With the use of an MPC, Cubase and MIDI-productional keyboard, he is capable of producing his own beats. His talent as a DJ and Producer has improved through his challenging experience as a resident DJ at Bob’s Bar and STAY in NYC as well as guest appearances at venues such as Webster Hall, Exit, Culture Club, Cream, and Asylum to name a few. He also performed at a college radio station in Penn State University.
Charlez's particular collection of classic vinyl is one of his key advantages in making unique beats through "sampling", taking small parts of a record with four bars and modifying the samples to form a new song. The more original the beat, the better the funk.
To date, his "Krazie" skills and originality has helped him become one of the greatest exclusive Producers and mix DJs in NYC.
