Right across the genres with a preference to musically interesting and challenging stuff.
I guess my real love is in 70's and 80s prog rock and fusion, but there has been a lot of interesting stuff over the years.
It boils down to this: if it is well done, well sung and well played, I like it. That being said, good singers seem to be very hard to come by (just watch any award show to witness most of the "top stars" belting out stuff off key and with very little power).
Our little My Space Community has introduced me to some interesting acts. What I have noticed most is how much the scene in Nashville is changing. Acts like Kate & Kacey Coppola, Shannon Mock and Jamie Fox are breathing some well needed fresh air into what for the most part has been a very predictable medium. Good stuff girls - keep working it.
I guess this is where you are looking for some of my all-time favorites:
TOTO (especially the last 15 years)
Luke, Vai, Satriani and other guitar geek stuff
old Genesis
Yes during the Trevor Rabin years
Grobschnitt
Kraan
Zappa
Patrick O'Hearn and other new age stuff
Carlton,Ritenour and things of that nature
LTE, Dream Theatre
Live DVDs of almost anybody (at least once)How long can I make this list ??? Anyway, a good cross section there to get one started.
The Sopranos until this season (too bad a great show like that finished as a stinker). Looks like the Black Donnellys might pick up the slack - too early to tell
Then again, that show didn't last 5 seconds...
Dead Like Me (axed after only 2 seasons like any REALLY good show)
24
House
Law & Order 1, 2 & 3.
Guilty pleasure:
some of the reality shows and Deal or No Deal.
I am also a News junkie.
Tony Kaye, Billy Sherwood, Alan White, Jimmy Haun
