When I was young I always wanted to be a producer. I would constantly be listening to the radio thinking to myself, "Hmm how do they get all those instruments and sounds together? It sounds like an endless amount of music." I didn't know the official title of the person who put all that music together, but I wanted to be that guy. So my parents bought me a keyboard when I was 5 and I learned the basics of what molds a song together.
I kept that keyboard for years, and when I was 10 I finally figured out the title of the person who brings all that music together: a producer. To my surprise, I realized my keyboard had an output that could connect to the computer, and with computer software I could record and layer that music into a solid sequence. My first production, a remake of a Sonic the Hedgehog videogame tune, was finally completed when I was 12 and shared online.
After years of making tracks, I wondered... what could be an outlet to play all this music live? So I got into DJing. My biggest audience at the time was at Club Space and it scared the shit out of me to play there, but I just went up there and kicked ass. The fear just melted away with the energy of the crowd.
During my music career, I’ve been an independent contractor producing remixes for various artists. Then I became a producer for a famous DJ, George Acosta . I finally left to work on my own album, but halfway during the production of it I realized my true passion was in self-improvement. Even when I’d go out and meet people, they’d think I was an author or motivational speaker. So I started a new website gerrycueto.com for my personal development writings. I will still be producing music and posting it on my Myspace and perhaps find a way to incorporate the two.
So don't be shy and send a friend request my way. :)
