Strange Exchange

About Me

Born and raised in Wentworth, South of Durban South Africa, Strange Exchange got he’s start playing and performing in church. He started playing piano at the age of 8, at the behest of his mom who tried to keep him off the gang-riddled streets of their community."Jesus saved me through His Music" remarked Strange when asked about his roots in Gospel Music and Praise and Worship. Strange Exchange went on to become a musical director in the church choir at 15, and later toured South Africa with well known Jazz Musician: Ernie Smith. The community in which he grew up during the 80’s and 90’s was a breeding ground for future thugs and creative geniuses alike. Those who gave in to the ever apparent despair turned to gangsterism, alcohol and drugs. Yet some turned to the creative arts and sports as a vehicle to success, and achieved the so-called impossible, proving that a community can build as well as destroy, depending on the individual’s character and beliefs. It is this belief that has kept Strange entrenched and working in this same community through the Music Team at his Church (Rhema Interfellowship), and through performing his music to young people in and around his home town."I love Jesus"Strange Exchange: 2 Cor 12-9:....My strength comes into it’s own in your weakness..." I change my weakness for His strength, a Strange Exchange?......
